Well im a AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8350 Black Edition 4.00GHz (Socket AM3+) Processor - Retail owner

but i feel like this is my bottle neck in my computer

i got 16gb ddr3 ram and a gtx 980ti

and still sum games FPS aint changed

AMD FX are simple to understand but i have no idea about intel cpu + intel mother boards

sum prices of CPU or more than my gpu but 3.0 ghz 6 core dont seem high compared to 4ghz 8 core ?

anyone explain intel cpu what i looking for in a gaming pc ?

Shouldn't bottleneck at all, some games are just not optimised for that cpu since some are single threaded and that's where it falls behind, have you tried overclocking? Getting it to 4.8on a decent water cooler should help a lot.

Just to warn you there will be some fanboys appearing in this thread soon to shout at you one way or the other :(

Intel's cores don't share a FPU between them (the 83xx series have 4 FPUs between the 8 cores) and various other architectural differences.

Per-core the Intel processors win on performance, plus in the case of the 6-core you're talking about they also support hyperthreading which means they are in some ways comparable to a 12-core AMD option. Also remember that more cores seldom add much as few programs use more than 2 or 3 threads anyway.

Raw clockspeed remains irrelevant, as if a processor can handle more instructions per clock then it may do better even with a lower clock speed. The CPU you're comparing with is presumably the 5820k (an unlocked processor that can do more than 4GHz :p) which is a theoretically higher-end processor than e.g. the 4790k, a 4 core, 8 thread CPU that does better per clock than the 8350 and also turbos up to 4.4GHz at stock. Where the 8350 wins is being much cheaper allowing the rest of the system to be better instead of too much budget going into the CPU limiting your GPU selection - and in situations where all 8 threads can be used it performs very well. The 5820k is good - but I describe it as theoretically better because in the real world there are few gamnig situations where it gives any advantage at all (indeed even the 4790k is often no faster than the 4690k with just 4 threads as most games rely on very few).

In summary: After 4 cores your gains fall off fast, AMD do less IPC right now which makes their clockspeeds be equivalent to less from the other side.

yea i got twin rad watercoller aint had great luck with over clock 4.1 best i get :(

Should be able to get it a lot higher than that with watercooling. 4.5 at least, maybe 5 if the mobo likes it. What's the motherboard?

You say "and still sum games FPS aint changed" - compared to what?

gta 5 and ark survival evolved

crosshair v formula-z 990z

and 3d mark dont seem very high

auto over clock mainly on software goes up to 4.1 but cpu dont really got hot

You need to hit 4.5Ghz before checking your fps as it may change somewhat. As above, if you have water cooling then it may be your motherboard that is holding you back. What is it?

A decent board and any FX cpu can hit 4.5Ghz on a half decent cooler.

As Buzz Lightyear says:

To infinity and beyond!

My aging FX8320 on the sabertooth using a AIO cooler can run 4.7Ghz all day with the right tweaks. The 8350 should be near this or potentially better so time to overclock.

But compared to what? Previous CPU?

You've got an extreme motherboard there, you really need to learn how to use it to overclock your CPU and see if that helps in games.

What speed is your ram?

(towards determining some OC settings)

I have a crosshair V formula non z and have had an FX8350 since Oct 2012 running at 4.5 to 4.7, curently have the FX9590 at stock though.
