What are the current batch of E6300s from OcUK overclock like, are they any good? I know every chip is different but what's the general range.

EDIT: Oops, wrong sub forum. Could a don move this to the CPU section please.

hello
got mine last week was real bad OCer it made 2.8ghz tops
so got a E6600 now doing 3356mhz at 1.4v

@jemz,

I don't think you should take your results as meaning the E6300 you had was a bad overclocker.

E6300 from 1.83Ghz to 2.8Ghz = a 53% overclock

E6600 from 2.4Ghz to 3.35Ghz = a 40% overclock

So, by my logic, your E6300 was a better overclocker?

Your E6600 got higher because it was starting from a higher point, although you will have a screaming fast CPU there now! :)

It's probably other parts of your system holding both your clocks back to be honest.

@Jimi,

I don't think you'll go too far wrong with any E6300, as the Mobo and RAM choice seem to be more important. Search the other threads for what combos seem to be delivering.

Yeah, I've noticed a lot of people have got really good results with the Gigabyte DS3 and G.Skill HZ, just wish the 965 chipset supported Crossfire.

hello
very good point Tooks
using Asus P5B Deluxe & GeIL PC6400...but i think mem crapping out at 400fsb
i have a vapo i am gonna try this week so maybe it will clock better

sure but how do i find that out?
just testing the E6300 under and old vapo i have its doing 2.8ghz @1.2v

If it does 2.8Ghz @ 1.2v, then surely it can break 3Ghz at 1.35v? 2.8 does seem a bit low for the E6300, compared to what others are getting. Most are reaching 3Ghz on air.

Are you giving the ram 2.1v and using SPD timings?

I've had my Geil 6400 over 880Mhz with 4,4,4,12 timings, so you should be getting more than 800Mhz at 5,5,5,15. Maybe it's the mobo that doesn't want to go over 400fsb, have you tried raising vMCH to 1.65v?

jemz,
Your last 2 links are messed up, you're inserting email links instead of hyperlinks.

If you can't pass 400fsb at 1:1 with auto timings, then I doubt it's the ram holding you back. 2.35v seems very high too, since it's rated to run at that speed.

yes sorry thanks for the help anyway :)

just ordered some G.Skill 2GB DDR2 HZ PC2-6400
