Current batch of C2D E6300s from OcUK

If it does 2.8Ghz @ 1.2v, then surely it can break 3Ghz at 1.35v? 2.8 does seem a bit low for the E6300, compared to what others are getting. Most are reaching 3Ghz on air.

2.8Ghz is the highest you can get on stock volts on e6300 I think with 800Mhz memory.

I'm pretty sure its not the CPU which is crap jemz it's just your not a "great" overclocker because I got a mate who got a e6300 last week and hes on 3.2ghz with minor voltage increase.

Agreed, it would have been his RAM or FSB limit on the motherboard.

Is there any difference in the overclocking levels of the OEM and retail C2Ds?

Mine can do 3150-3200ish on stock volts (can even do 1.28v at 3100ish iirc, prime stable) :p

Persivore just picked up a week 28 quid from here :) Seems to be clocking nicely

sorry for the slight off topic *slaps wrist* but i'm just curious with the c2d's is there a major difference in performance between the 2 and 4mb cache chips? i know on the amd's people claimed around 200mhz of cpu speed, is this still the same on intel's new line of chips?

I recall a review and they had a 6300 at 2.59 gig and a stock 6400 and the 6400 was just slightly faster nothing in it though.

For the record i can hit 3 gig on my 6300 on air on a GA-965P-S3, but odly enough i can only get this with the G.Skill LA 667 memory when i try on my Geil 800mhz stuff it won't boot into windows, no matter what timings/ volts etc i try so atm its sitting at 2.8 gig on the Geil best i can do.
