Hi guys. I have just started a thread regarding my new EVGA 680 in SLI. Which is here: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18445308

I originally was asking questions regarding overclocking my GPU's and that i did so in small increments and my games still crashed after 10 minutes of play.

I have then started to question MY CPU. As my EVGA 680 temps in SLI dont exceed 75 degrees. But when running prime95 for a minute i get temps like this:

My main question is could my cpu be overheating thus causing a drop in frames and frames to become unbearable and then crash my system? I dont think its my cards as the temps are good. Any thoughts please?

Overheating does slow down the system, it happens on mine if I forget to turn my fans up for gaming. Atleast you can boil the kettle when using Prime95.
 
Yes the cooler looks to be seated correctly. Just thinking now. I sometimes get a restart of the pc wit ha message saying "overclcoking failed pres f2 etcetc" Could this also be related to the CPU? This was a pre overclocked bundle from OCUK.
 
Heat from 2 x 680 is rising making your cpu cooler ineffective. Your ideling at 60 0dd !
You need to look at your cooling. Try running With the side of and see how long you get and maybe pointing a desk fan at it if you have one.
 
Vcore looks a bit on the highish side as well, also im assuming that your cards are reference cooled models. With theese type, the heat is exhausted out the back unlike non ref/aftermarket cooled cards. Theese are notorious for dumping heat into the case.
 
Would the alternative be get a much better air cooled cooler? If so have you got any recommendations please?
It appears as though my cooler has maybe gone, I'm going to switch it round tomorrow and put the i7 stock cooler on to see if this helps the temps at all.
 
it cant be seated correctly (makes sense being a pre made system) you should not be getting 100c prime temps even with quad gpu's also check that the coolers pump is correctly powered and working as it could well turn out the pumps not working as it should be you'll know when it's seated properly as you'll be idling anywhere from 28-40c ish

Is the pump working ok on the H50, and do you have it connected to a fan header that supplys a constant 100% voltage supply, or to the psu via a 3 pin - molex connector? Cooler wise, i used an Alpenfohn k2 that kept my old i7 920 at 4.2ghz in the mid 70's under prime load.
