Current go to 1070

So I think I'm gonna buy the Zotac today!

I was under the impression the issue wasn't to do with the memory manufacturer but the way it was being cooled?

I think you're thinking about the VRMS.

Micron memory is generally regarded as being inferior to Samsung memory as regards overclocking.

Nice!

I was about to tell you to go for the cheapest aftermarket cooled 1070 haha, my cheapo one does 2.1Ghz stable and +500 on the micron memory on stock volts was going to say don't spend more than you need to :p

Enjoy your 1080

The 5yr warranty was swinging me, but I decided I wanted the extra horsepower in VR.

Thanks!

Zotac appear to be allowing higher VRM temps than a lot of other manufacturers. Probably not really an issue, but it caused EVGA a bit of bother.

I suspect the GTX1070 uses the same heatsink arrangement.
That is on the AMP Extreme, it's a 25mm longer card so I don't know how different it is. I haven't seen anything like that regarding the normal AMP edition. Thanks for the info though.

The normal AMP edition uses exactly the same method of VRM cooling - a small finned heatsink that is not physically part of the main heatsink. It's very likely that the AMP edition VRM temperatures are higher than cards that cool the VRMs with the main heatsink. There is an advantage to having a seperate heatsink though, possibly slightly lower GPU temperature.

Fair enough, thanks for the info!

1070 prices have dropped a lot this last week or so £350=360 is buying some bargains, and not just the cheapest brand.

Its almost as if they know something else coming soon!

I can find an ASUS ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1070 for £359

and an MSI GTX 1070 GAMING 8G for £375.

Pretty good prices, especially for the ASUS card.

Nice finds! At those prices, GTX 1060 6GB cards don't look all that attractive anymore... and the gap to the cheapest GTX 1080 (Zotac GTX 1080 AMP Edition?) is bigger than ever.

Was about to pull the trigger on the Asus 1070 today and price has jumped £100 :(
