So I've been tasked by my younger brother to build him a Gaming PC and I had my mind set on a 1060 6GB or an 580 8GB but I've taken a look at the prices and the stock and it's crazy!

I've started reading why the prices are up at the moment and it's just insane. At the moment, I'm half tempted to tell him to hold off for a while and HOPE that the prices go down but I don't see how that's going to happen with the miners buying everything the moment it's in stock!

I love PC Gaming but if miners keep driving up the cost of GPUs, I can see my PS4 getting a lot more use!

There's been some offers Gibbo has running through the forums to bring them down to a more sensible price, see if they're still on.

Otherwise just wait for the inevitable mining crash and they'll be cheap 580s for all.

While I appreciate Gibbo's generous offer, the prices are still off what the RRP should be and what they were when they were released.

Mining prices are dropping fast at the moment, so hopefully it won't be too long before stock appearing without miners buying. It's not the time to be adding GPUs for mining, unless you have zero cost electric.

But then you will have a lot of gamers that wanted to buy in the last 2 months, but couldn't, keeping stocks limited. :>

He posted recently about a code that brings the Zotac 1060 6gb down to £240.

Alternatively go second hand - 290x for ~£220 or a 980ti for ~£300.
