Curry burns

Madras is about my limit really. Like Burnsy, enjoying the taste is more important to me than "manning up".

Granted some people have a much higher tolerance to spice but nagas and curries of that ilk are just about waving your big curry coated johnson about.

Not true at all, one of my fav curries for flavour is a naga morich based one. I eat it as a takeaway on my own, so it can't be for manning up.

I must say that the label given to a curry isn't always about its strength though. I sometimes watch that Indian Food Made Easy and the presenter was talking about curries from Goa, specifically the Vindaloo. She said that the curry can be as hot or as mild as you like but the name doesn't necessarily have to change as it can be more about the style of how it was cooked.

Perhaps you are a heavy smoker AH2 and you have destroyed all of your tastebuds :p

I make curry as spicy or as mild as I want. I don't really stick to a recipe when it comes to the heat of the dish. I sometimes enjoy a Korma but prefer a bit more spice to it, so I add more spice to give it that extra heat. Sometimes I enjoy a Vindaloo, but fancy it a bit milder, so I add less spice.

nope, just love chilis and the kick they give you.
Some foods are extremely hit, take a lot of Asian dishes.
I actually used to hate even a korma as a kid and now can eat pretty much anything, although you still sob like a baby with some stuff. It's just building up tolerance, for me that was just a gradual love of spice food, where now I probably eat at least 4 meals a week which have chilis in it.

Oh and it's a myth that it destroys taste buds or makes it so you can't taste food.

Whilst it was merely a joke in the context I used it, I will have to agree to disagree. As a former smoker, my taste buds improved vastly once I have given up. Even if there is no physical change, smokers are renowned for having impaired taste/smell.

I remember having a Chicken Naga on a work night some time ago - during the 1 hour car journey into work the next day I was genuinely concerned that I wouldn't make it in without soiling myself.

I am a staunch advocate of the Jalfrazi as it has an ideal level of heat for me. That being said it is becoming more often than not I really end up regretting the chilli peppers in the curry sauce.
