Whats the difference between a normal tikka masala and a tikka masala balti?

I've often thought this. I think Balti dishes have more peppers and onions, less base sauce. A balti is cooked differently.

I phoned up my Indian and asked him. He said the balti is not so sweet, spicier and cooked with peppers and onions. It’s also served with plain naan. If I get one I’ll report back how it was.

Balti = bucket.

It’s basically the same dish but one is cooked in a bucket.

I had one, it wasn’t nice. Too sweet. I don’t know why I have have tikka masala style curries. I find them sickly after a few mouthfuls.

Baltis are often served with a naan or chipaties rather than rice. It's supposed to be finger food IIRC.

Isn't rice still finger food in this context?

It was served with a plain naan, but so much sauce, I wouldn’t class it as finger food.
