anyone out there who use the arrow keys instead of wasd for their gaming??....i know were probably in the minority..but i was wondering what is the best gaming keyboard for us "arrows" guys...i started my pc gaming way back in the early days with novalogics delta force series..bhd..and joint ops....all these games were pre configured for the arrows keys....so after all this time i still struggle when using the wasd technique...im just throwing out a call for to like minded gamers who may have stumbled on the ideal keyboard/game pad for arrow users....

I use them, well up and down arrow keys. I use Numpad 0 and Right CTRL to straffe. I use the other Numpad keys for weapons. Right Shift to crouch. Then I use side mouse buttons for jump and melee, middle mouse to reload. Top mouse button to Sprint, the next one as use. The End key to prone, and the other keys around End for map buttons or inventory, stuff like that.

For all that I use a Logitech G15 keyboard and G400 mouse with the mouse buttons bound to keystrokes.

thanks barmyllama..doing a check on the g15 keyboard....no worries orderoftheflame..i knew i'd get some kind of comment the moment i posted..all taken in good fun...were a funny old crowd us gamers lol...and yes you can certainly say im an oddball

I've used them since the early days of PC gaming. I'm a leftie, and I'm not changing to WASD now!

One of my biggest bugbears in games is hard-wired WASD movement controls, or in fact any hard-bound keys.

The Witcher 2 launched with half the keyboard (the right half!) unbindable, making it almost impossible for left-handers who use arrow keys or the numpad to play the game easily.

I did have to teach myself to fly flight sims right handed, because all the decent flight sticks back in the golden age of PC sims were right handed only.

I used to because I'm a leftie.

I can't be bothered to remap controls all the time so I play WASD now. Hitting space is sometimes a bit difficult on certain keyboards though.

I'm not left handed, but I do use WASD in SP games if rebinding doesn't work properly. Just Cause 2 still asks for the number keys to be hit in sequence, even if you remap the keys. So it's just easier to use WASD. But for MP games I have to use the same keys I said in my previous post, simply because I'm quicker.

I always reconfigure the layout so that WASD becomes ESDF (all keys go one to the right).
I always felt that the WASD layout prevents the use of more keys to the left of those, which I can now access easily with my left pinky.
I've become so used to that now, that I just couldn't go back to WASD without feeling terribly restricted.

Glad I'm not alone in favouring the cursor keys. I'm a little more strange though, in that I'm a leftie who uses the mouse with his right hand.

It's been a long time since I played an FPS on the PC, and the last time I played I seem to remember the cursor keys being the default layout. I can't get used to WASD at all! I always end up pressing the wrong button in frantic situations. With the cursor keys I know where my fingers are at all times. :)

most games dont let you assign the numpad keys :( ..

like league of legends for the 4 abilities the default is QWER

i would like to have them near my right hand on the numpad but the stupid game doesnt let you so instead i have to place with my arms crossed looking like some kind of **** , its not exactly comfortable either

I used to use the arrow keys when I played on my dad's PC. I then had a console through my school years, and only recently at the age of 22 (about a year ago) built my own gaming PC. I use WASD now though. I've been trying some of your preferred setups, and I don't know how you do it. Especially barmyllama :p

I've been an arrow key user from day one, couldn't imagine using anything else.
