Curved monitors v flat ?

I was comparing a 40" UHD flat monitor and my current X34 34" UW curved monitor for a while.

When I only had the 40" it wasn't so noticeable but I the niggel in the back of my mind that center was too close and the corners were too far. Made worse when switching between the two. Now the 40" UHD is sat on the floor behind me and the X34 is my main monitor.

I only notice the curve when walking past it now.

the original plan behind it was that your field of view is slightly curved, so the screen shape tries to match that curve - for prolonged periods of gaming it reduces your eye strain slightly caused by the edges of the screen

but also it looks pretty cool - and unless you are rendering in design software where straight has to be straight there are no issues - to be fair there are no issues when you sit perfectly infront of it but getting that right is hard to maintain
