Curve is basically attempt to hide VA's gamma shift by making whole monitor more evenly black crushed.
And makes straight lines and geometry having content distorted. (especially latest bent double fads)
Also 99% of VAs have very slow dark shade starting transition response times compared to IPS.
Though if you prefer darkened room, then VA's the way highest contrast of LCDs rules.
At least without FALD backlight on IPS (+IPS glow minimizing A-TW polarizer) of which there aren't many.
What kind budget you have?

Do you mean curved ultrawides? Or are you talking about specifically the G7/G8 neo versus the LG 32GQ950? I have both.
Gigabyte M32U would be godo cheaper choise.

With scarcity of 32" panels there actually isn't that much good choise.
Alternative AU Optronics panel based ones wouldn't be as good for faster paced games.
Though if you're into more slower paced gaming those have very wide both AdobeRGB and DCI-P3 covering gamut.

I was looking at the samsung neo models but also looking at the gigabyte below or an MSI model
Just thinking would you rather go IPS over a curve

If you're primarily gaming got for QD-OLED. It's 1440P not 4k but it's beautiful.
I actually like curved, but wouldn't really care strongly either way flat vs curved. OLED though is such a step up vs IPS/VA.

I don;t really know how to answer that tbh. For donkeys years I have used IPS panels until several years ago and I have used plenty since but then only as secondary monitors. So I had great expectations for something like the LG 32GQ950. But I did also ordered 2 neo g7 very very recently like last week. First off I thought it would be okay with the curve of the neo series as I jhave used curved IPS ultrawides and did use to have a g9. But on a 32 inch monitor it's stupid and and just think it is one of those Sammy gimmicks. I hate it.
Having said that when I got the LG in I loved everything about it. Colour reproduction, how bright it got for an IPS panel. Pretty much IPS and backlight bleed were practically non existent. But seeming as it a Nano IPS panel and IMO the best iteration of IPS.
I was pretty sure I was going to send the 2 neo g7 back as the LG ticked more boxes than the neo g7. So my use case is pure gamesplaying nothing else. So when I fired up cyberpunk or any game just when it dawned on me. My love affair with IPS was well and truly dead. What was a almost fanboi level of devotion was nothing more than a fond memory. When you only have 32 edge lit not full array dimming zones on an IPS screen then you pretty have much shot yourself in the foot. You cannot escape the limitation of the technology that IPS can never get dark enough no matter what tweaks or how good the panels are.
My primary monitor is the LG c1 and as many of you guys know it has almost perfect blacks. While the neo g7 doesn;t go as black as an Oled it get brighter...a lot brighter than my oled but also darker than the LG. I hate the curve and don;t even get me started on the directional pad to control the OSD. But I can handle that more than the IPS inability to go dark or LG quite simply dicking it with 32 edge lit zones. Now I am not the type of person to sit and watch 4k/8k content on youtube but even in games playing when a dark scene or object appears teh LG just doesn't cut it for me. Had they given it way more dimming zones my opinion I am sure would be different.
So sadly I am sending the LG back. It is very very good in every other sense besides my usecase which is just playing games and HDR games playing. But you might find it perfectly fine for your use case.

This. If you’re spending that much, definitely go for OLED. And IMO, Ultrawide will always best 4K for gaming. Wider field of view unless you go absolutely massive 16:9, and easier to run high frame rates compared to 4K as well.

I just buy whatever has the best specs for the price. So I have 2x curved and 2x flat monitors currently, I didn't go looking for curved they were just good deals at the time.
I'd probably choose flat all else being equal because it makes them slightly thinner in terms of rectangular space needed.
