When will the custom ones be out? I'd quite like to get the fastest card out when ivy bridge comes out, but I'm paranoid about it being to hot and I know a couple of people who have had (perhaps unluckily) nvidia graphics cards overheat, I figure I'd rather wait for a custom cooled one , ( I know the heat would probably get exhausted into the case but I am planning on having lots of fans when I get around to buying )
Thanks a lot in advance :)

Yeah i was going to get a custom 7970 for the Same
Reason , hopefully between now and april there will be more info about custom cooled ones , just figured I'd ask to see if anyone knows anything (I've read a few reviews about 680s but not heard anything about custom cooled ones

yes i'm interested in this too..... in fact; custom cards only, just keep Googling, there's a 4GB 680 out soon and probably a few more, plus i saw a watercooled one as well.

right now the 7970 MSI Lightning looks the best, it definitely has better cooling than the 680

i'm also interested in the dual CPU cards.... but i'm deffo not interested in a bog standard 680, not now that i've got a new job.... i'll keep an eye out and decide in july, a 7990 DUAL CPU is too much card for right now, but it'll still be ok in 3 years time, the 680 wont be, it'll be history.

i'd rather buy one card every 4 years than 2.....

Heat won't be an issue with a reference 680 if you have reasonable airflow, right now mine is idling at 28c with 30% fan speed (can't hear it) and under load sits in the 60's~ range with +100 on the core and +400 on the memory and is only slightly louder than my Hafx case fans, been pleasantly surprised by a very quiet and cool card! Will be interesting to see how much difference these custom cooled cards make

well, i suppose it depends how much they can improve it's overclocking, but then again, i think you can probably OC to the same amount yourself ....
my guess is these Custom cards will have more Vram only, plus better cooling.... but the card itself the same.

i'm waiting for july for other reasons, as mentioned

NVIDIA is likely to release its dual-GK104 Kepler graphics card at Graphics Technology Conference (GTC) held in May, as 3DCenter reported.

Compared with dual-GF110 solution, dual-GK104 is much better. As we know, GeForce GTX 590 are based on dual-GF110 cores, whose frequency is lower than GTX 580, so the performance is only 40%-50% better than the latter due to power issue. While dual-GK104 Kepler graphics cards will have a better control in power consumption than GF110 core, and therefore its frequency is more loose, the performance is supposed to be 65%-75% higher than single-GK104 card.

In addition, the source revealed that, flagship GK110 model will debut in August 2012, feature 2304 CUDA cores, 192 texture units, 48 ROPs and memory interface of 384-bit.

so this new dual card is much more powerful than the GTX 590 was on release, there are already photos of it on Google

I concur with the frequency of buying, when I get this new pc It will have to last me 4-5 years probably, I expect at the end it will be somewhat dated, but I'd like to think it will stand the test of time for awhile

Thanks for the replies

i'll probably spend much more and get the dual cpu Kepler..... unless something really good comes along from a 7970 or a 680....... rumours are that the 7990 is very large indeed..... at least 14'' long.....that is way too big for my case.

i'm not keen an a massive overclock from a custom 680, i'd rather have a bigger card that's running nice and lazy, plus the Nvidia dual card looks much more powerful than the AMD 7990 version.

i dont want to spend more than 800 quid

what annoyed me most was i got the GTX 8800, then 2 years later along came Crysis and killed it

this might happen again, but less likely with a really big card like this

yes you'll need to be careful of your case... my existing case is useless, way too hot inside.... but this new one is freezing cold, just make sure nothing is blocking the intake fans

Its not been confirmed to me just yet, but shouldn't be long to wait....;)

Will your other cards all be similar in terms of noise levels? I'm looking for something that will be high performance but quiet - stock doesn't seem too bad but I would prefer something even lower really.

then you might have to go water cooled..... because all these custom cards will either be twin, or maybe even tripple fans, and with a large OC you'll definitely hear them..... i think !

hopefully in the next month or so (ie so when ivybridge comes out i can actually finally upgrade this pc)
