Custom build Corsair PSU "click" no power

When fitting the brass stand off's inside the case, I think normally there are 9 for an ATX board it is sometimes possible that the motherboard doesn't use all 9 i.e it only requires 8 and the ninth would cause a short on the underside of the board.

If you have the board disconnected try connecting additional fans/hard drives to load the PSU a bit more, usually it needs to see a minimum load before it will switch on.

I see, I will check this in the morning - thanks!

Have you connected both power cables to the motherboard and the cpu fan? Cleared CMOS?

It's not looking good. Is there anyone you could borrow a PSU from?

The single 'click' is normal. It's a relay switch inside the psu, often found on higher end models. It isn't indicative of a fault on its own but if the psu isn't supplying power afterwards then its most likely faulty.

I don't suppose you happen to be from anywhere near Worthing Sussex? I have a few spare PSU's you could borrow to test your system if you are.

It's a long shot but worth a try :p

It doesn't seem entirely necessary however, the PSU is - from what I understand - clearly at fault.
