I have built my last 2 computers, but due to an unfortunate circumstance I don't have my PC anymore, so in need of a gaming PC.

Just need an opinion on what I have picked so far. I would like to have a big case and the last PC I had was the 900d and loved it. Not sure if I should keep the 980 or go 2x970 Sli, I will SLI the 980 once the prices comes down. Bear in mind, I dont want to change a part for the next 2 years, 3 if I am lucky. Also 3 drives, one for windows, games and documents/programs that are not games. Budget similar to the total below.

1 x MSI GeForce GTX 980 £469.99

1 x Asus Rampage V Extreme Intel X99 (Socket 2011) DDR4 EATX Motherboard £359.99

1 x Intel 5820K 3.30GHz (Haswell-E) £335.99

1 x Corsair Obsidian 900D £299.99

1 x Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 £179.99

1 x Samsung 500GB 850 EVO SSD £174.95

1 x Samsung 250GB 850 EVO SSD £92.99

1 x EVGA SuperNova G2 1000W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply £92.99

1 x Corsair Hydro H100i High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler £89.99 inc VAT

1 x Western Digital Caviar Green 2TB £67.99 inc VAT

1 x LG 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter £67.99 inc VAT

Total : £2,220.58 with Shipping

Hi and welcome.

Are you set on X99 then? many will tell you all you need for gaming is Z97+4790K, but if its what you want I can do a spec.

The 900D maybe large and all that but so are some of the Phantek cases.

And lastly can you build this PC?

I can do you some sort of white+black thing,

Building the computer shouldn't be a problem, last two were pretty simple and the second was much easier (both were gaming computers)...
I don't mind paying a lot for the 900D, lets just say I still want to make it difficult for someone to walk out my front door with my desktop...
Thanks to both of you in taking the time in picking the pieces both look good I would rather purchase DDR4 Mobo and RAM should have mentioned that to.

Out of the mobos which is most likely to replaced in the future? Also I would rather not spend so much on the graphics card its quite a hefty price, unless I would not have to replace it for 10 years.

Z97 has twoor three months left in it before Z170 and socket 1151 comes out with a new range of CPUS called skylake to replace Haswell/devils canyon.

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18666652

X99 is the newest platform and the one with 6 or eight (or if you use XEONS even more) core CPUs, while Skylake is still four core or four core with Hyperthreading etc.

The Phanteks Enthoo Primo is a large case and can swallow lots of water cooling parts.

Thanks Stulid, I am going to fork out on the top graphics card actually, as I just remembered I have the Asus PG278Q ROG Swift monitor. I am a bit of a nooby when it comes to difference in mobos but what is the difference between the one I picked and your champion?

I love that "I just remembered I have a £500+ Monitor"

Dude how could you forget having that beast!

Hi,

Obviously there is a £150 difference in price between the two board.

The SOC Champion has just four RAM slots moved closer to the cpu socket to reduce signal latency and overall the board is aimed squarely at performance+overclocking.

Gigabyte have a UK base RMA center and excellent support.

And if thats not enough to convince you, this board is continually breaking world records.

All these are world records set by 8pack over the weekend using the SOC Champion,

Surely that has more to do with the 4 Titan X cards rather than the mobo?

I misinterpreted your post, I thought the SOC was the more expensive board. Hell if its £150 cheaper and gets good results then it has to be worth a shot !
