Hey Guys & Girls I'm AskACapper and I've been doing the remapping petition to help disabled gamers get remapping as a standard on consoles.

I have been posting in Gareth's thread but think this could use it's own thread.

Looking to get over 100k sigs on it (or a million) at 82k atm

Here I show how Mass Effect 3 fails at basics of accessibility:

Thanks for your help

All games should have this feature by default , its just lazy cost cutting
by developers that they can't be bothered to implement this common sense feature.

Good luck with shaming them into sorting this out

signed petition .. I think , the wee spinning icon stayed in the windows for about 5 mins , is this normal ?

Signed it awhile ago so the petition says but if I could I'd definately sign it again.

It doesn't make sense to me that someone would choose NOT to include full re-mapping, why would any games company deliberately limit their game like that

Already signed but good luck. Pretty ridiculous that this isn't a standard feature anyway

p.s have you tried posting this on reddit? i'm sure you could get a pretty huge amount of signatures there

See I am signing this but not for the above reason.

Developers are not going out of their way to make it difficult for people, disabled gamers are a minority, an INCREDIBLE SMALL minority. Does this mean I think they don't matter? No of course not, I think they should be able to play any game I can and if they need custom remapping for that then so be it, that's what devs need to include.

However they are a minority, as such what we as gamers need to do is reach out to developers and tell them that a group of people are missing out of buying/player their games, not lash out and try to "shame" them.

They are not doing anything "wrong", they just need to do something else "right".

but all gamers want / benefit from remapping settings not just disabled gamers .

so they are doing it wrong

I don't see how that is relevant to what I said.

"Benefit from" and "require" are two very different things. I benefit from lifts and escalators however as a perfectly healthy individual if they weren't there I would still be able to use the stairs.

Remapping is a "requirement" for a very small minority of gamers, for the rest of us it's just a matter of "yeah that would be nice", which is hardly a great argument.

negative PR is much more motivating than asking though.

Sadly that is true, however I don't think it is right or necessary, especially in this case.

Also it's hard to justify physically healthy gamers getting up in arms when you know that remapping or not they won't stop buying games.

At the end of the day games are a luxury, whatever the creators of this luxury can do to make it accessible the better but whatever they do decide to do is on them. All we can do is show them what they would gain by doing it.

makes no difference if it's "right", it works the other option doesn't, so if you want something done it has to be done.

After all it's not like they're unaware of the large desire for remapping it's not exactly a new issue.

Sorry, we clearly disagree on a rather fundamental level, I don't believe the ends justify the means.

Anyway, I've said my piece here and signed the petition.

bloody hell we're not talking about threatening to cut of their children's feet, it's just some slightly bad PR for an industry that is larger than the movie industry.

After all we used to have it but it got cut i nthe whole cheap bland xbox game revolution we seem to be having.
