Custom Firmware for Linksys WRT54G

Just recieved a WRT54GL as my wireless laptop will soon be delivered.

Went for the WRT54GL as its basically a WRT54G v4.0, so I can install 3rd party firmware.

What's regarded as the best firmware to use?

Been reading up on some and I'm tempted to slap DD-WRT on there.

I'm happy(ish) with Sveasoft Talisman. www.linksysinfo.org is your friend.

Would definitely give dd-wrt a go, one of the best (if not the best imho)

been running v23 since the first beta with no problems at all

Absolutely rock solid. Never had a problem with it.

Think I will as it looks really feature packed.

Just need to make sure I install the minimum program first and then the full version otherwise it won't work on my WRT54GL.

DD-WRT v23 alpha running on mt WRT54G without problems. I've tried nearly all varients of firmware and DD-WRT seems to be the most feature packed. You can adjust transmit power (admittedly quite useless), assign static IPs to DHCP clients (useful for the laptop configured for DHCP for use with other networks) etc.

Will definitly be installing the DD WRT firmware.

Just need to finish this assignment and then I can play with my new kit.
