I'm looking to build my first pc, mainly for gaming, for around £750-800. I'm mainly hoping to be able to run Crysis decently.

Current potential build:


  • Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 1GB - £170
    Corsair 2x2GB DDR3 1600MHz Ram - £65
    Seagate 1TB Sata 32Mb Cache - £50
    Windows 7 Home premium - 64 Bit - £70
    Amd Phenom II X4 965 3.4Ghz - £130

This totals to £645 - And i still don't have a monitor and case/PSU

Could you give advice on current build, plus any cheaper variants, and i'm looking for ideas on the monitor and case.

your motherboard is wrong, its a crossfire capable board, when you have a nvidia card specced.
 
Beware as the Samsung F3, while very good, will need a firmware update to work on the new AMD chipset motherboards.

I have both the F3 and the Crosshair and to get it done before it would work. :)

Just wondering because that board would be a little bit of a waist with no overclocking you could go for an alternative

Probably no difference in performance plus you get Sata 6 and usb 3 which will really future proof you :)

There is an issue with that board and drive but on the review a guy has explained how to apply the Samsung fix

May have to give overclocking ago then, does it really make that much differnece?

Unless you meant the OP.

Also an i7 would mean seriously skimping on the graphics card for an £800 build, especially with a monitor and by the looks of it windows 7. I7 build for £600? Good luck.
