cant wait to give it a try.....

anyone used them before ? looks pretty feature rich and the screens they use are not cheap

“1080p”

:/

what you after ? 4k in a car lol the oem vw rns315 i already have is less than 720p res on a 7" display
i think what i have bought to replace it wil be awesome 1080p is good for car resolution, well i think it is anyway, you would be hard pressed to see the difference between a good sourced 1080p and 4k on a 10.1" screen unless you where 10 inches away from the screen and even then lol :)

How do you expect to get 1080p on a screen that has a resolution of 1024 x 600? Does it have magic pixels?

Its still higher than my oem...

RNS 315
Screen Resolution 400 x 240 pixels
Screen Size 5"
Screen Details Monochrome Colour Touchscreen
Amplifier Power Unsure 4 x 20 watt

vs

JOYING
Screen Resolution 1024 x 600 pixels
Screen Size 10.1"
Screen Details IPS Glass Colour Touchscreen
Amplifier Power Unsure 4 x 50 watt

I think its a good upgrade ;) that with everything i paid 350 pounds all in with all the extra`s...

compaired if i paid for RNS510 that would cost 500+ pounds without any extra`s...

Does that really fit in single din and then stick out like a sore thumb as the pictures make out?

If you arent going to spend the pennies to get a proper RNS315 or RNS510, I'd have at least gone with a clone that looks right.

I think it might well do, looks absolutely ****ing horrendous if so. - http://www.static.carjoying.com/med...reen car stereo with digital amplifier 21.jpg

Don't see why you wouldn't go for the 'look like OEM' style ones that run Android if that's what you're after.

At least something like that vaguely looks like it might be original.

I recently swapped out the RNS-E nav in my A3 with an Xtrons Android unit. Xtrons being another brand name of the same hardware the Joying uses. I am actually very impressed by it. It's very quick and responsive, mine has the same CPU as a raspberry pi 3 I believe. But it actually does everything it says on the box, and very well.

The Audi RNS-E is a good unit, but it is getting dated, especially with the lack of bluetooth and limited satnav functionality. I now use Waze all the time, even going to work and back, it's brilliant for traffic alerts. All the steering wheel controls work well, and I think the sound quality is better than the RNS-E, and it works perfectly with my 10 speaker BOSE system. FM signal is perfect, I am looking to add a DAB module too, but I use Google Music 90% of the time now anyway.

The screen resolution I was a little concerned about, it sounded really low, but it's not at all, it looks great and plays back videos very well.

Question to those of you who have swapped stock for aftermarket - how does nav work? Do you have to feed the HU a data connection or can it rely on the GPS antenna alone?

Mine has built in GPS. I wifi tether it to my phone for data (Waze) but could install copilot if I wanted to :)

Generally I think they'll manage with just GPS but you'll not get the online features like traffic etc. so things like Waze end up a bit useless.

Some can be hooked up with their own 3G/4G SIM cards (via an addon) or you can use a wifi hotspot etc. but the data SIMs tend to be most efficient.

I have a 15GB data sim in a mifi thing which charges off one of the USB ports on the back of the radio. Perfect for Waze and Google Music.

I have a Pumpkin 7" oem replacement with Android 7.1 - It's better than the other double din I have and it is supposed to have a sat nav card but it didn't work - Now I use Here wego offline and so far I am pleased with the sat nav - just need to work out how to make it come up when press nav button on facia - Mine is also Wifi which is very handy - just park next to computer room window and download everything - I also bought a OBD2 plug in thing but found it patchy - doesn't always work - turns out all OBD2's costing less than 50 quid are probably fakes.

personally i went old school (well, old school by todays standards) and went with a standard alpine double din unit that's non-android auto.

i'm sure there's cool functionality that i'm missing out on but personally i'm more in favour of standard in-memory satnav that doesnt need phone signal to work (because the time when you really need satnav almost always seems to be when you've got no mobile internet), other than that just bluetooth phonecalls/music and shouting at google to change songs is fine by me.

I've had a standard double din Joying for over 2 years now and it's good. It still runs Android 4.4.4. Google maps/waze/poweramp all work fine.

For data, setup tasker on your phone so it activates the wifi hotspot when the bluetooth connects. Simple and seamless.

That's when I use the Copilot android app :)
