Customs Charges?

Hi all,

Looking at purchasing some thigh high boots for the missus. They are 66.00 dollars plus 19.95 postage.

Does anyone how much customs charges Im likely to get charged?

You should always allow around 20% for import charges, and don't forget about the admin fee most couriers charge. It's £13.50 for Parcel Force and I'd imagine others are around that mark.

If you can, ask them to send it as a "gift" and you won't incur any charges.

seriously though reckon on 17.5 - 25% plus a handling charge

If you get it valued at $18 as well as a "gift" then you shouldn't incur any charges.

If they get lost in transit though, the courier will only pay out the reduced value.

They will not mark the item as gift, says so on the auction.

According to my list (May 2005) clothing is 12%, but USA imports may have special rates and VAT is applicable.
12% of $60.00 = $7.20
17.5% of ($60.00 + $7.20) = $11.76
convert $ to £, add on admin charges etc.

found 'em in here for £70.00 inc p&p
If you look around the store you may be able to get cheaper if you want to visit an exhibition!
