Cutting a quartz worktop.

My induction hob has packed up and I need to replace it. That is the easy bit.

My problem is the hole in the worktop is 20mm short width ways.

Is it possible to cut the worktop in situ, I need to take 10mm off either edge!

4" angle grinder with a diamond disc and plenty of water as it will be a dust storm it's very messy cutting.

I can live with the mess, it will soon clean up.

I am more worried about the worktop cracking with the vibration.

Quartz dust is extremely dangerous to your health, please ensure you use appropriate filter masks or preferablly water to avoid dust contaiminating the environment.

My advice....get someone else to do it,a lot of money down the drain if you go wrong,

The dust will go everywhere! You won't be able to apply enough water to dampen it down as well as making even more mess with the wet quartz dust flicking everywhere.

Ordered a gas hob which will fit into place. No cutting required.

Yeah, we had a gas hob before, the feed was capped off when we had the new kitchen.
