Cutting a window...

How?!?!! Lol

Thinking of cutting a window in the side of the prodigy.

Is there a how to? What parts would I all need from start to finish?

Ie - the tools, the method. Also where to get the plastic and any little bits to finish it off?

Dremel

Although, if they've used the softtouch stuff it might make it more complex...

No soft touch on the side panel

Then it's just a case of marking up the side panel:

Cover side panel in masking tape
Mark up Side panel in pencil over masking tape
Turn Dremel on
Cut.

Make sure you're using decent safety stuff.

Then it's just a sheet of acrylic to act as the window...

First ten minutes of this says about side window acrylic side of things...

What about a surround for the window? To finish it off .

Use some U-Channel for that, just make sure that you make the corners slightly rounded for easy installation.

its called clear perspex,you can get it in various thicknesses,1mm 5mm 10mm ect off fleabay

i wouldnt use any c channel edging,they dont use it on production windowed cases

just drill each corner and use four tiny black self tapping screws,you can touch up the cut metal with black felt tip pen

What type of Dremel cutting discs should I use?? I have some red sandpaper coloured ones that seem to do bugger all.

Reinforced Cutting disks are best, buy I have used the ones which comes with the Dremel.

To be honest, I've found both wear out at the same rate...

I just bought 20 of the standard ones, and double them up

Put two together, rather than using one

Works well

Depends what material your cutting, I'd recommend using a lubricant definitely improves the lifespan of them dramatically, don't press to hard either you can usually see if your wearing them down as the edges go from the colour of your metal to the colour of your disk.

If you fancy doing really clean job, could use some H channel rubber to grip both case panel and acrylic, but would need to be super snug.

But as mentioned 4 self tapping screws would leave a good finish.
