cv help

Hi, just about to write a cv, not quite sure how to lay it out as i've never needed to bother before always just been taken on or given an interview straight away.
I dont want to just copy something something somebody else has slaved over for hours but i dont really know where to start, I am applying for a software support job, which I already do as part of my current job.
Also I'm not quite sure how to go about negotiating a salary in an interview, as it has always been non-negotiable in jobs I've done in the past.

No idea on the negotiation bit.

According to my placement co-ordinator at uni, my CV is pretty much spot on, as regards to right content, layout etc, but some people good CV may be bad to others. Anyway, my CV consists of:

Page 1

Personal Details
Name/DOB
Address,
Email(s)
Phone Number(s)

Personal Statement
Something about me to pimp me

Secondary Education
Qualifications + Where I got them

University / Other Education
Other qualifications

Page 2

Work Experience
Where, when, and a little bit of what.

Skills
List of all my skills, like software packages, manual skills etc

Responsibilities
Things I am and have been responsible for during work + leisure.

Activities + Interests
What you like to get up to etc.

References

Yeah, that's the same layout as I use pretty much. Covers everything that an employer wants to know.

Edit:- For the vast majority of CVs only use 2 pages.

that layout is almost the same as mine and I got complimented by the way my cv is layed out the other week. made me all proud lol.

I'd tend to order things from most recent to oldest.

i.e

Latest job
Previous jobs
Uni qualifications
School qualifications

then the usual Hobbies etc

goto www.reed.co.uk >> career tools >> CV Builder and start building your CV there. (remember not all fields are compolsury)
After you are done, DL the word doc, and give it some bells and whistles.
Very well laid out C.V structure, on which I have recieved compliments on before in interviews.
You might need to register a username before you can built it... which wouldnt take you more that 2 mins.

got a family now mate, and not had a penny to scratch my ass with recently so not been out much, i'll try to get on msn and catch up with you some time soon.

Thanks sup3rc0w looks like it could save a lot of hassle, even just to give me a better idea of what i need. All i've got here is a list.
How much is it recomended to write about yourself? and how much should just be bullet pointed facts

Would be good mate, its funny how the old days of parties around alex's.... messing around in school etc have gone isn't it. How I wish I'd stayed at college and gone to uni, instead of being stuck in the dead end job I am now with a manager who desperately wants to get rid of me

considered having it done on my manhood penski but could only get the 1 and the 3 there before i would have run out of room, and didnt want the bad luck

Er, you don't negotiate salary in the interview, even if the interviewer brings up the topic (e.g. how much do you expect to earn? What did you earn in your last job?)

Avoid it by saying "I'd prefer to leave salary negotiation until I'm offered the job". If you're really pressed you might say "i understand the industry average is in the region of 20k-26k".
