Hopefully a quick question.

My CV is in two parts, CV and Cover letter. My CV doesn't contain a personal statement; what I'm like, how I work, why I want the job. Instead the cover letter does this- as I had to point out to my personal advisor at the Job centre all my cover letters are tailored.

For an online application I'm going to do I don't see a section for a "personal statement" or anything that goes beyond personal details, CV upload, education and employment history.

Think I should do a CV and cover letter combo for the CV upload?

I can see the benefit that trying to sell myself will put me above those with just a CV but at the same time I know some recruiters can look negatively beyond any extra info.

Tah for any help.

And if you're nosey this is for the apprenticeship I currently really want.

I would think it would be best practice to assume that your CV would make some sense if it were to be seperated from the cover letter during the recruiment process. Ie, there should be some form of personal statement, or directive towards what job you want, on the CV itself.

I must be tired as I don't think I was that clear in my explanation and I can't seem to understand this.

My CV/Cover letters are generally three pages. When ever I email them off or even just a simple online submittion (no form filling or questionares) it's saved as one file but very seperate.
Page1) Cover letter - personal statement and why I want the job, usefull skills etc
Page 2+3) CV, personal details, employment history, educations, random other crap employees like to know.

Is this what you're saying is "best practise?" Think it should be done in this situation?

I don't understand the personal statement at the top of the CV. Just makes me feel that the CV is very small and unfilled with lack of experience to me.
