Hi

I am currently rewriting my CV.

In my current role, I tend to go and work with a lot of customers on- site in a project- based role.

These customers are tier-one globally recognised telecoms companies... Obviously it looks more impressive to put these on my cv: i.e.

Carrier Name

I did this, that.

Carrier Name 2

I did something else

effectively namedropping... Should I do this, or just allude to the fact they were big carriers, but mention no names?

Thanks

Wont mentioning them breach customer confidentiality or something? Then again, if the companies are big, they wont really care....and it would look good on the CV. Just check if their are any legal issues with it, if not, it would be good to put it in. ;)

I don't know, my current role is my first graduate job, and I don't know whether it is the done thing to mention names- unprofessionalism?

Who would I check with though?

Well...as customers, they are sort of your employer. Just ask their permission, like you would for a reference from a previous employer (except clients can decline. :p)

Hmm there is no way I can do that. It will look unprofessional, someone in my company is bound to find out, and I wouldn't know how to ask.... plus most of them don't have many English speaking staff.

Hmmm. Then it's upto you. You could risk it and it could pay off. If your old clients get arsey about it, then remove it from future CVs, they will most certainly not take legal action over something so small.

Nothing wrong with name dropping IMO, although be careful to distinguish between companies you were actually employed by, and those where you did project work. I'd be thinking more along the lines of:

Employer (dates)
-...bla bla project for Carrier 1...
-...blub blub project for Carrier 2...

My employer certainly isn't instantly recognisable to the man on the street but dozens of our clients are.

During my time at xxx, I have worked on various projects in customer- facing roles, the most significant of which are outlined below.

Telco1

I did this

Telco 2

I did that

Does that look ok?
