Cyber Squatting

That's the thing, you don't need to justify it, if you had got the domain first and then an American Webmart wanted it it would be tough cheese, because you got there first. Except you didn't and someone else registered it before you, so it's hard cheese for you. :D

Not quite that simple. Just getting something first, doesn't mean you have a total right to it.

In this specific case though, Booner's company will have to pay up or blow it out their **** tbh, because the guy has every right to own and keep that domain.

Sorry, yeah I didn't explain myself well, what I meant is that if Booners! company specifically had got there first they would have had a perfect right to stay there, just as this guy does.

No, but if you have a proper use for it you'd have a strong case :)

Exactly what i've been saying, just as Wicksta admits above you, the way he phrased it sounded a bit too much like 'first come first served' regardless of anything else.

Personaly i wouldnt have let the guy know the domain was worth so much, and then tried to register it next renewal date if possible. If he continues to renew then i would consider paying him (domain owners get the opertunity to renew domains before other people get the chance to purchase the domain).

Since he knows the domain is worth something, its simply a case of pay him and get the domain, dont pay him and wait possibly years for him to just stop renewing the domain, or finaly, choose a different domain name.

If http://www.webmartuk.com is the company in question. (if not ignore the below)

Spend some of the money making the site look nicer.

Stealing IStock images is bad, you should pay your own royalties before making complaints about others.

LOLOLOLROFLMAOLOL

That is what is going to massively enhance the domain you don't have?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Gomedy cold.

Would it be mean to inform iStockPhoto that their images are being used for commercial purposes without payment?

Have you actually tried entering into negotiation with the guy? Its clear the domain has worth, so you cant expect to just get it for £10/year. Maybe £10,000 would get his attention? And it would appear he's american, so that'd work out to pretty much $20,000.

No, do it. Seems like they want everything for free!

I was going to, but the fact iStockPhoto seem to hide any form of contact details put me off as I couldn't be bothered looking for them. :p

We updated the website today actually..

But our proper sales website is www.freeprintmanagement.com

I think you'll agree that it is much nicer than the other one? I will agree the other was a horrible website and never up to date as we spent all our dev time on freeprintmanagement.com - which is revolutionary stuff!

I won't bother telling the guys in IT, my hunch on cyber squatting was supremely squashed :D

Looks a little better, but you've undermined your argument that you deserve the domain this guy owns by not keeping your own, similar URL'd page up to date.

You have a use for yours, for all you know he has a use for his.

As an aside, why have you skewed the left-hand side of the page like that? Looks rubbish, as does the gradient from (it looks to me) yellow to white.

It isn't brilliant, but it is better than the other page. That isn't the most glowing praise.

Don't ask me, I know nothing about web design at all. Nor did I work on the website design. The gradient on my screen goes on both sides and admitedly looks weird, but symetrical.

The only thing visually I worked on was the logos and that was a side part of my role in the company. To be honest, the visual aspect is a minor detail compared with the content of the site - we are a very straight to the point and functional company, much like OcUK kept their basic shopping site (basic, but it worked) until recently.

This is going slightly off topic of course :)
