Cyberpunk 2077 VR mod 'should come out in January' says creator

I've got a similar problem.
I've uninstalled the mod, but still have Vorpx installed for other games.
The problem is that it keeps "hooking" into CPunk and preventing me playing it on a monitor.
I can't seem to find a way of stopping it, and i don't want to fully uninstall VorpX, and i certainly don't want to have to do what Petey has done.
Any thoughts?

If vorpx isn't running in the background then it can't hook. Exit it or kill it in task manager.
Vorpx creator Ralf is answering questions about the mod in this thread https://www.vorpx.com/forums/topic/please-share-2/ on his forum, might be worth asking there if no luck here?

Thanks, i've done that, but it keeps hooking no natter what.
I'll head over to the forum :)

Ok, it's fixed, and this is how :D

What you can do if for some reason the uninstaller behaves odd for you and you want to switch between the mod and monitor gaming is disabling the mod like a manually installed one. Just remove the vpxCP2077.asi from your [CP2077]\bin\x64\plugins folder and the vpxCP2077 folder from [CP2077]\bin\x64\plugins\cyber_engine_tweaks\mods.

Probably some weird conflict with another mod you have installed.

Thanks Tyke :)

The first update is now available, addressing the following issues:

  • WMR headsets did not work with OpenXR. Your Reverb G2’s are now back where they belong: at the top.
  • The scope wasn’t centered in view while aiming down sights for some pistols and similar weapons, making it difficult to aim while aiming down sights.
  • Uninstalling the VR mod could cause the game fail to launch if certain mods were present before installing the VR mod.
Please uninstall any prior version before installing this update. Otherwise you might still experience the uninstall issue mentioned above later.

Guessing he's fixed your un/install issues. General question, is it worth a buy only for the VR thing? Generally i'm not a fan of VorpX and first person, most times the fov is total pants or the visuals look too pixelated.

Good/bad native VR looking? mods are normally decent.

For me, yes, very well worth it.
But, i guess it depends on ones set up and whether £28 could be spent better elsewhere.
Would i play CP2077 from start to finish on it, no, not yet, but it's real good fun and getting it running just right and when it is, it's super impressive.
I have however spent a long time on FO4 and Just Cause, which more than justified the cost.
My previous set up was a 3060Ti, i5 10700 and 16GB 3200 RAM which was kinda ok with it, but now i've upgraded to 5800x, 3080 and 32GB 3600 RAM and it's a whole new ball game (both with Rift S).
But i guess, it's all down to where your expectations lay.
Either or, it's a bit of cheap fun to be had.

Umm ok. Expectations are always hit and miss with VorpX, why it's normally the deep discounts i take a punt on. 3rd person games never fail me, but fps i could count the decent ones on one hand. I'll leave it a day or two to see what more gets said over on the forum, then probably buy as id like a look at it regardless. Ironically i have been playing Empyrion in VorpX all day, half the reason i'm not in a hurry.

Ive had vorpx since 2015, i think ive used it for no more than 5-10 hours total. As u can guess i'm not its biggest fan, i'd think carefully about recommending it. But i see that some people really like it, they do whole playthroughs of games like Bioshock and Fallout with it. Maybe i need to try such games (games that are known to suit Vorpx).

I obviously got the wrong end of the stick there, i assumed you asked about buying VorpX not CP (too much xmas fizz).
CP is £13.99 on CDKeys at the moment, and well worth it even if you don't like the VR aspect.

Yeah kind of knew somebody would say that. I know the game is good, just things get difficult when you've been entrenched in VR for a few years. Picked it up now from steam, all i need to do now is break the empyrion curse to give it a go.

Ok so this is VorpX fps out of the box 'full VR' which in my opinion has never been great, why those marvellous standalone VR mods that do first person shine like they do.

Anyone remember that moment when fallout 4 first launched... We were all rocking Vives and CV1's, exiting the vault and seeing the horror of the shimmering mess of the commonwealth in bright sunshine. That is what welcomes you with everything defaulting in VorpX and in game, total desperation, i'm thinking dam i don't like refunding but it looked like grease over everything. Firstly checking the in game graphics i'm surprised to see it all checked to ultra with the highest raytracing, bit of an overkill even for a G2. Opening up the VorpX settings yielded much better results, i needed to play around quite a bit to get it where id hoped to be from previous experience.

Changed to the Cinema view, drew in the screen to fill the entire field of view, changed to Z-adaptive, played around with the near and far 3D depth, turned off the fps cap, dialled in the sharpening, happy days. Hands down night and day compared to what it was, razor sharp visuals, that 3D fish bowl effect, flawless frames, no tearing, perfect. Turned down the in game preset to ultra without the raytracing, turned on the DLSS to auto 10 minutes later to stop my system spinning up.

From the pit of despair to totally ecstatic in just the way it looks and performs. The game itself i was hooked in for a couple of hours, i saw enough to know why people overly use the word epic. The pacing is superb, the spliced in cutscenes scream cool ****, the character models chunky and well detailed, the atmosphere and lighting encompassing it all.

Worth a buy to play in VR? it all depends on how much millage you get out of playing with the VorpX settings and probably the native res of the headset and what hardware your throwing at it. I found everything that works for me personally, but that's with the acceptance that 'full VR' isn't there (this is essentially 3D vision) and i have high level hardware that allows me to ramp it all up.

Keep an eye on that 2hr mark if you're buying it fresh from steam.

Thai is very interesting! I have never bothered with vorpx and playing any game with this theatre 3d view, but sounds very cool! Already completed CP when it first came out so this may be a good way to replay it :)

just been playing it, its ok, getting 60 fps, has the gun in your face too much when aiming.

Definitely something I'd be keen to see in vr! But it looks a bit janky with how it handles the gun models and I'd much rather see a from the ground up vr game of this scale with full motion control support. But that's a ways off I suspect!
