Cycling Shoes?

Hi all,

I'm after some recommendations on what shoes to wear whilst out on my bike. I've been using a pair of 'nike air rifts' for ages now and although they keep cool they can get very wet in the rain/bad conditions.

Do you riders just wear trainers? Any recommendations?

Cheers,

My recommendation would be to post in the Sports Arena forum instead as you will probably get more useful replies.

Or Motors for a laugh.

Depends on what type of cycling you are doing.

Ideally you want a stiff-soled shoe to give you maximum efficiency when pedalling. You can get proper cycling shoes (Shimano, Specialized etc.) but make sure they don't have holes in for clipless pedals unless you want to use those style pedals.

If you have flat pedals with pins, then try and find a shoe with grip/tread which will lock onto the pins (as such).

Cheers for replies guys,

I have just a bog-standard mountain bike, nothing special. I do mainly road and cycle path routes.

I'm not after anything professional (or clipless), just a comfortable and practicable shoe really. Perhaps trainers will be best?
