Cycling Training

Whatever you feel up to really, if you're comfortable with that sort of training volume then it can only be a good thing to ride more. Just make sure you're getting enough recovery and don't overwork yourself too soon, gradually build the volume of training you do.

doing my test on Sunday to see how im doing then i must get cracking again

after 6 weeks of training

I did my FTP and LTHR test today to see if I could increase it, and guess what, I did!

now I just got to continue to do something

hope to increase and get 1 more ride in each week

so instead of doing just 3 turbo sessions a week

im going to try 3 turbo rides a week + long ride outdoors

Can someone recommend a turbo trainer and necessary kit to work with trainerroad?

There are so many to choose from..... I don't know what to choose!!

I was considering one of the VR trainers from Tacx - are they overrated/overpriced?

most of us here use the Kurt Kinetic Road Machine, its a silicone fluid trainer so gives better resistance (ie more to road feel than magnetic ones)

that is what im using, works great

I did consider a VR one, but id rather have a proper workout to-do rather than follow a race etc

ok cool - and what supplementary bits (cadence, bluetooth sensor) do you use with it?

AS I already had a Garmin Edge 800 with cadence and speed sensors

I just use that, but you have to just buy the usb stick to plug into the computer, I use the "Suunto" one as its really small, and I think its cheaper than the Garmin equivalent, and does not miss a beat!

Not very happy with my Training today, well that's not strictly true, I did the 3x10 mins at Threshold level for 1h30 , on target power

but my left foot went numb again, and by the time I finished and when I got into the shower my foot was burning, it was hurting so badly, so had to run the cold for 10 mins to cool it down !!!

need a bike fit urgently I recon :(

anyway, my effort :

5x10 mins at and just under Threshold
