Cyclist damaged my MK7 GTI in Central London

Were you in the car at the time?

Damage looks odd to be caused by a push bike, sure she's not driven it into something and is making a story up?

Yeah the damage looks consistent with scraping a wall or something, you have horizontal scrapes all the way up the side. I can't picture how a bicycle would do that.

This, I aint buying that a whole bike frame managed to slide down the car in such a way to make marks in line with scraping against something with bad parking lol.

I'm not looking for a debate on my partners honesty. I know it was a bike.

I'm looking for assistance on the use of a smart repair or full body shop via insurance.

+1 It doesn't look like damage from a cyclist.

But that's irrelevant to the issue though. I don't see how a smart repair is going to get that exactly as you want it.

Damage looks form a bike to me, hitting the corner with the wheel and front fork would do that damage. The bigger mark at the top would be from the brake calliper and the deep one half way down from the quick release and/or pedal.

Only way to sort that properly will be a new bumper.

If the accident was at a light them perhaps there were cameras active? Perhaps one of them got a good picture? Or was the cyclist's face caught on the dashcam? IIRC leaving the scene of an accident is a criminal act.

Cyclists!! 99% are just plain bad

Yeah right.. I couldn't be more sypathetic to cars and the law when cycling and 99.999999% of any near miss is always down to idiots in cars..

What happened to the OP is just the standard inconsiderate ass, the same as every single car park mark/ding on my car that some scroat of a careless oik has imparted..

I'm sure if I had of damaged their bike that they'd expect my insurance to replace it.

And probably posted a Youtube video about it and how you are an aggressive, bullying car driver.

Seriously though, that is a SMART repair. That's the type of scuff a SMART repair really work on. Don't mess around with insurance and peeing about with body shops who can't match colours to save their life. Keep as much of the factory paint intact as possible. I reckon £80 for a repair and it'll look 98%. You'd have to press your nose to it to even see a imperfection.

The cyclist was going quite quick, their front wheel and frame caught it at full force.

you said he was manoeuvring between cars? how can you go quick when you're trying to squeeze by a car? I cycle everyday in london and betwen cars my speed is max 2-3mph no way would I cause that much damage.
