D Day

I bow my head in honour of all the brave allies who took part in D-Day; especially my fellow Australians.

Lest we forget.

Dont forget the losses the Germans suffered. A soldier is a soldier, regardless of his uniform.

I cant recommend enough the book on D-Day by Stephen Ambrose ( the guy who wrote Band of Brothers). It is one of the best books I have ever read

Indeed it is, i read through it twice. What a great book. I'm now reading Citizen Soldiers by Stephen Ambrose, brilliant once again.

Yes, this should not be forgotten!
Anyone knows any good WW2 documentaries? feel like watching one tonight

Agreed a soldier is a soldier, but if it wasn't for Germany's unprovoked attack on Poland this war wouldn't have started and many lives of the Allied forces would not have been lost on this day.

Bedford Boys by Alex Kershaw is another book about the D-Day landings, and one small town's part in it, which is well worth a read.

RIP.

Very true.. May I recommend "Saints and Soldiers" too. Very moving true story which illustrates just this.

All you brave souls, R.I.P.

My Grandfather was on the beaches that day, I'm so very proud of every man who risked their life for our freedom.
