hi there,

i have a vx912 that has dvi and d-sub ports.

i'm just wondering what d-sub is? can you connect a standard vga cable to this and then to a gfx card?

i'm asking as my graphics card has died, and i now need to useonbard which only has a vga conncetion. from googling though it seems d-sub can output vga?

can anyone answer this? cheers.

yes, it's VGA connection only, just the normal analogue connection port that you'd get on all screens (mostly) really

thanks for the reply badass.

was worried it needed some special "d-sub cable" or something. so i can use a standard vga minitor cable from my onboard graphics > d-sub port on monitor.

it's only a temporary thing as i ought to use its dvi really. unless the difference is not that noticeable. do you think ill see a major drop in image quality?

a lot of modern screens it is very minimal, especially in the smaller (17" and 19") range. Haven't seen any direct comparisons on the VX912, but tbh i doubt it will be a massive difference. Certainly should look fine :)
