Bought a phone off the bay, pink samsung d800 for the gf.

I put my orange sim card in and it worked so must be unlocked.

Anyway my problem is this, i can get on internet and send/receive pics. If i send a pic from the pink d800 to my own phone its fine, but if i send a pic back, say 78kb, the samsung d800 receives the pic as 1kb and its a little thumbnail i can hardly see.

Happens all the time, any suggestions ? :(

yep, it's an MMS content adaptation problem that's currently under investigation, not much you can do to change things at your end afaik.

Try reducing the picture size/resolution before you send it and it might help.

Whats that exactly mean? Dont really understand? Will it eventualy be sorted?

Sorry, way too jargony...

The way MMS works is that all pictures go through a process called content adaptation as they are sent, based on the phone that is going to recieve them (as read by the IMEI number). This ensures the picture is in the right format/aspect ratio etc for the phone.

Because samsung are using a weird non standard screen aspect, the normal content adaptation process isn't working properly, it's scaling the pictures incorrectly which results in the tiny pictures you see on the screen as it tries to make the picture what it believes is the right size for the phone's screen.

To fix it requires an update to the network side content adaptation software which is currently being worked on by the people who provide it.

Content adaptation is the reason why you can MMS from any phone to any other, where sending the same picture via bluetooth or email will often result in error messages.

My understanding of the term 'screen aspect' refers to whether it would be widescreen, 4:3, or whatever else. From what I can gather, the D800 uses the fairly standard 240x320 pixel resolution. Surely this would be compatible?

My phone is a samsung e370 and when i use the samgung d800 to send pics to my samgung works 100% fine, works fine if i send mms pics to my bros samsung d600 and my moms samsung to !
