D800 or D800E ?

Had a d800 e for week now blown away by it, see another thread . Shame I have to give it back :mad: any questions just ask . No sign of moire at all yet
Would be up for a 24mp d400 though as as much as I like it £2900 for the body is hard to justify .
 
Placed order for D800...was thinking of E, but in the end there is not much difference, and I dont do landscapes.... d800 will do just fine ;D

need to get a good mic for it now...
cant wait for shop to full fill pre order...and test it with 105 :)

Must have me confused with someone else fella.

I did sell one of the D700s but it was in prep for the 800 coming out, kept all my glass though Im about to renew some of them as they are 4 years old and would rather have tight optics for the 800.
 
Might depend on what you shoot. I opted for the regular D800 just to be on safe side with feather detail on birds. Also, when I popped in to Dixons duty free on the off chance, they had a single D800 in stock so I couldn't say no :D
 
My quest for an 'E' is getting closer to completion. However, I've just been looking at the grips.

Am I being overly sensitive here? I almost fell off my chair when I saw the price - £370 :o

ITS A BIT OF PLASTIC TO HOUSE SOME BATTERIES!!! I don't recall spending anywhere near that on the D300, this is daylight robbery, and yet I know I'll end up getting it.
 
got a 20 by 30 inch print from a d800e
Just a warning photo box only take 10 meg maximum image size seems a shame throwing away some detail but very difficult to tell
Still an impressive bit of kit Images have more depth than my d300

Taken on a very dull day, on the print the small writing under the number plate is sharp
25years later just getting back to rb67 detail ! And about as heavy .

Have had some time last few days to play with the D800E .... still yet to come across a photograph where moire is visible. Yes, I'm sure it's going to happen at some point, but I really think it's not going to be as major an issue as people in some quarters have made out. Absolutely no regrets at choosing the D800E over D800 here.

Good. what kind of things do you photograph?

i'm worried for my architecture and nature work. Bird feathers are not nornally a big issue with moire but it would be horrible to have moire affect photo like I too the other week of an osprey attacking a bald eagle!

Seems you probably got more chance of getting moire with D700/5dii/iii than the D800E.
The resolution alone almost makes an AA filter completely redundant, personally I'm looking to get a pair of E's...
 
I will almost definitely get an E, would like to see an example with moire and understand the process in correcting it in PP and what the final image quality is like so if moire does occur then I know the cost in time and quality.

I think your really going to struggle to find an example, especially from anything not man made, from what I can tell, only fabric with the finest repeating patterns 'may' show some moire, but even then you need to zoom in to see it. Haven't seen any architectural examples yet, but haven't looked very hard tbh...
