One other word of advice - imo get rid of the dummy as soon as possible, my first son (all grown up now) never used a dummy, never had any problems at bedtimes over the years from what I remember. My other two (2/3), my missus never weened them off soon enough and we had endless trantrums over dummies. Just a thought...
Enjoy being a dad - watch time fly by!![]()
Anyone else had this?
My sister suggested a good idea for getting them off dummys: when it comes to christmas time, tell them they have to give up there dummy else he won't come and give him any presents, he has to take them away and exchange them for big boy toys, i think i'll try that when it comes down to it.... a long way to go yet, only been a dad for 3 days
EDIT: he comes home tomorrow YAY![]()

Tried similar unfortunately it didn't work with mine. The only thing I did was just take them away and suffer the consequences in the end lol.
As already mentioned don't do the driving thing, a friend of mine did that with his girl and they were up doing it at all hours. Lucky I avoided this with mine.
(and by now you should have figured out what their bedtime bear/blanket etc is they like to go to sleep with - go and buy a spare this weekend maybe two whilst you can still get them - trust me this is one of the best tips you will ever have!)
The joys of parenthood.
Pretty much echo what everyone else has said so far. He'll get used to it.
On a related topic, how disgusting is the first nappy.![]()
I once blew a rasberry at my son, he was older than 9 days, when changing a nappy, he loved it but it took 6 motnhs for his to stop blowing saliva all over the house.
