On the specifications of the 2.4 above showing it's 0.60 time is 7.9 when stock a valver will do 7.4 seconds. ;) they are still very nice cars though and very comfortable.
The Volvo's 0-60 will be penalised as it's trying to force more power through the front wheels and is an automatic. Straight line the Volvo should lift it's skirt up at about 60 :)

i see..yours will be a hell of a lot lighter though and will it reach 140 as the above spec..even though i know that it can do more as ive seen it 150+ with my own eyes
I imagine that it was speedo inaccuracy causing it to show 150+, as there's no way a C70 with 193hp and an automatic box will do 150! 140 is about right and shows that the C70 is fairly aerodynamic.

its not going to be 10mph out is it?

It could be, so many things can affect it. I know clio speedo's arent to be trusted :p

A valver is a Renault clio 1.8 16 valve nick named valver. Nope it wont reach 140mph unfortunatly but will do close stock is 127mph. Yeh a lot lighter as they weight bang on 1000kg

Speedo's can be anything as much as 10% out, and often are.

Several possibilitys, just pick which ever you prefer.

1) If the speedo reads fast, then generally the owner will 'believe' his car is faster than it really is.

2) Conspiracy theory... Car speedo's are set fast to prevent speeding, as many drivers drive 10mph over the speed limit, with a 'fast' speedo, they are actually driving pretty close to the legal limit.

3) As a cars tyres wear down, the speedo actually gets even faster, there is about a 3% difference in the rolling circumference of a tyre that is brand new, and one with the minimum 1.6mm tread depth. This will make the speedo read even faster than normal when the tyres are worn.

^ your rover would beat what?

Everything, apparently. You see its actually a super car judging by some of the stories we hear :p

I can't see the harm in him posting his dads car. Slightly random, but doesn't deserve some of the comments. No wonder people find this place intimidating at times :)

It's not as fast as his 214i though, from what he used to say anyway! I remember when you had that 214 agw you used to go on about how it was loving the cold winter temperatures. You were a right loon then, least you've learnt the error of your ways :p

Oh shut up. When have I ever said it's a "super car" that can beat everything?

My post was meant as a light-hearted joke. Hence the wink. Whenever you post a reply to something I've written, it always comes across as derogatory.

Serj, what I actually said was about the 4000rpm VTEC type 'kick', lol. I still swear to that... in first and second gear, there was a definite (ok, so it might have been minute) kick as the torque of the beasty 1.4 increased.

I still miss the 214. That was a great car.

ooooh, another valver owner - are you on www.clio16valver.co.uk? :)

they weigh about 920-950 iirc? later phases had more weight due to some extra safety stuff.

Ive owned a 214 16v (and still own an 8v), im sorry dude but they are both utter crap :p

That's your opinion and you're more than entitled to it, but I think for a cheap first car, you can't beat the 214 (16v). The 8v's are indeed pants. :)
