Daft GRID Question

I bought GRID from the Steam deals a couple of weeks back to play for Christmas. Unfortunately I can't see any way to control the car with the mouse, so I'm having to use the keyboard, which spoils it totally.

I can't find a mouse option in game, nor is there any mention of it being an issue online. Can I use the mouse in GRID or do I need to buy a controller/wheel?

Can't say I've ever seen an option for the mouse, but surely that would be an absolutely horrific method anyway?! If you don't mind spending the money, it's really worthwhile having an XBox 360 pad plugged into your PC these days.

The analogue input from the mouse will be infinitely better than the on/off input from the keyboard. Since I'm not willing to buy a controller it appears that I'm stuck with the keyboard. Glad I only paid £3.49 for the game now :)

It wouldn't be. It is playable on the keyboard, but you really need a 360 controller or similar to get the best from the game. If you've got a G25 that'll be OK too.

360 controller is well worth it. Wired for 20-25 quid and it works with so many other games!

They have mouse control on borderlands for cars and it is god awful! Keyboard is better than mouse.

I agree with Mr. Anderson, if you have a lot of PC games, a 360 controller is a must in my opinion. I'd say about half the games I regularly play use it.

Definitely get the 360 pad, bought one solely for grid, tried it with the keyboard for a while and just gave up, so much easier with the 360 pad, and win 7 64 recognises it without any problems.

I have never seen or heard of anyone using a mouse for a racing game. Do you think this is the norm or something?

Im sure there is no way to do this in grid.

A wheel or 360 controller is the norm...a mouse would be rubbish even if you could use one in grid...or any other decent racing game.

Grid is a decent game. I got my bundled with my Zotac GTX295 and currently use a joystick with reasonable success but never tried the mouse.
Steering wheel and pedals will be the best option but can be expensive.

Just to echo what's already been said it's well worth getting a 360 controller, makes so many games that are good on consoles great on PC.

Back when I played lfs regularly it wasnt uncommon to see people mouse steering, and doing quite well too! but for arcade racers like Grid it seems like a daft idea.

I have about 70 games and I don't use a controller of any kind. The only games I can think of that would be better with a controller are the worst end of console ports in which they didn't even bother to add support for PC input devices (e.g. Resident Evil 4).

Virtually every type of game is better played with a mouse and keyboard unless it was specifically written to use a controller only and had partial keyboard support half-heartedly tacked on as an afterthought and mouse support likewise or completely ignored.

But racing games with a mouse...that's like playing FPS games with a controller.

Grid is fantastic with the xbox controller, my bro bought me a wireless controller for crimbo, forgot about the wireless receiver, thankfully i switched the controller for a wired version with my cousin, fantastic job with grid.
