I'm sure I already made a post asking this but i cannot find it for love nor money.

Anyway,

I have 3x 200gb SATA drives.

Firstly, Can I Raid0 an odd number of drives? probably a daft question but here hoping.

And if so read on:

If I Raid0 them is the performance increase going to be somewhere between 2x and 3x ? If not would it be more "economical" to Raid0 just two of them and find another use for the third.

and if not:

Whats the performance increase going to be for just two drives? 2x, 1.5x. Obviously very roughly. FYI it will probably be on a ICH9R.

cheers

Yes, you can span Raid0 across 2/3/4/etc drives although it will depend on your controller somewhat exactly what options you have.

I'm not entirely sure about the performance increase in percentage terms or anything like that, about the best I can say is when I went back from a Raid0 array to using single disks again I didn't notice any real loss of speed.
