Dahmer

It's a good watch but certainly isn't enjoyable to watch by design, was better than I thought it would be coming from the writer / director of AHS
Same was frightening in the first episode. How can someone do that to another being and to multiple victims.

It's basic human empathy to find the extreme suffering of others to be uncomfortable viewing.
I grew up in a generation of beheading videos, isis, Mexican cartel videos, nothing shocks me anymore.

I think that’s why shows like this don’t bother me and I find it funny when people over react and say they’ve been crying for 2 days, actually seems quite pathetic really.

If you can make it through this series without a flicker of emotion/sadness, something is broken inside you.

Seems to have the same disposition as Captain...hmmmm.....

why? i read a lot about dahmer years ago and while the show is so far following relatively closely to what he actually did it's still only a tv show. now, reading about his crimes and watching interviews of the real JD - that is the real horror show that will get your emotions pumping!

regarding the show itself, it's ok. probably a lot better for those who don't know a lot about the real crimes.

It's not "only a TV show" though - it's about a real person who existed, who really did kill 17 people in a barbaric fashion, leaving all those families devastated. It's a different means of telling people about exactly the same events that got your emotions pumping through words on page/screen.

It is only a tv show, using dramatic license to switch things up a bit (though thankfully not by much)
There’s still a degree of fictionalisation despite the fact based nature. That’s why I say ‘tv show’ but I get what you mean. Tv shows don’t usually get my emotions going the same way a documentary or reading factual accounts does but I appreciate everyone is different.

He was one sick puppy, really enjoyed the series though, your man done a good job in the role, they might give us one in the future about john wayne gacy

I’d love to see one on Andrei Chikatilo - though I doubt anyone is going to sign off on a Russian serial killer in the current political climate!
Citizen X is a decent enough film about him, though my memory fails me on how accurate it was.

Watched this and as a father myself it does make you wonder how these people end up how they are. Is it parenting or is it just a genetic deficiency that is there from birth? There is obviously something broken in his head and he understands that it is wrong but his compulsion to do it just cannot be stopped.

Watching this 2 episodes at a time, as it's a bit bleak to binge anymore than that.

How true is episode 6 (Silence) as wikipedia says he only invited Tony (Anthony) over to take some photos, but the series almost implies they were possibly about to start a relationship.

not really true. there wasn't any indication from dahmer that he was going to start a relationship (was he even capable of one) - think the show has just used it for added impact, not that it really needed to.

He seemed to go completely off the rails when his Gran threw out his manikin, perhaps he should have got a job on the night shift at River Island.

I’d disagree, I think the scenes especially the one in the cafe where they were passing notes would have you believe it was the start of a possible relationship.
