Herons - not very particular when it comes to a meal; you all think they eat fish, right?
Last year, walking down the canal in Leicester, I saw one repeatedly stabbing a rat with its beak - the rat was making all kinds of squeaking noises (well, you would, wouldn't you?) - until after about 5 minutes of this, the heron scooped the rat up and swallowed it whole.
