Dale Winton Has Died

I would never have described myself as a Winton fan; he was 'just another' charming camp guy who was hard to dislike. But I often find myself drifting in and out of restless sleep in the silly hours, and Steve Allen (a little less charming and a little more acerbic, usually) is on LBC between 4 and 7am. I stumbled into his show this morning and couldn't help but be moved by him soldiering on despite having just lost a very close friend.

I had more respect for them both them by the end of the show. Not enough sleep, but that'll teach me not to turn the radio on!

Used to listen to Steve Allen a lot, and it's interesting hearing a few minutes of his tribute to Dale. Can't believe he used to be 24 stone! It does seem like it was suicide, and his mum had commited suicide too.
