Are the cpu,s interchangeable on the Dell Studio 17 Series laptops. I'm looking at one that's currently got a Pentium Dual Core T4400 but can I replace that with an Intel 2 Core or Core i5 or i7??
 
You can put any c2d in there. i5 and i7 are different slots so wont fit.

I would suggest a P series as they runcooler.

Also its a PITA to install a cpu on the studio as you have to take the whole laptop apart to get to it.
If you need a hand give me a shout, have done a few studios. Also have a P9500 for sale, if you are interested I can list it in the members market
 
They used to be (the old design with 16:10 screens). since the studio 1555 & 1745 onwards it now requires you to take the motherboard out to get to cpu. Ram/HD's/WAN cards are all still easy.

I was going to say its easy but didn't realise they had a design change. Did they fix the terrible cooling with the update?
