Dam ASSASSIN CREED!!!!!

"a few hours" isn't long enough to tell if an overclock is stable. Your want at least 8 to 12 hours of orthos, and possibly even up to 24 hours.

Then come back and say your OC is stable.

its not the gpu due to it only crashin when the cpu is overclocked plus it did the same with my x1950

iv done it for a few hours where like i sed the game crashers in 10 to 20 mins

Also remember running orthos wont cause your system to get as hot as playing a game, cos when you play a game you have more heat from your graphics card making you case warmer causing your cpu to run hotter then if you just run orthos.

Assassin creed is a console base game so it will push your cpu to the limet, So im guessing your cpu is overheating while playing that game, The reason why your pc dont crash while playing other games is cos there pc based games right? and they dont push the cpu to the limet. or the other games you play dont push the cpu to the limet. get a better cpu cooler.

Thanks for putting a smile on my face. :D

I had problems with this game also, I think it's the "call home feature" that tries to connect to Ubisoft, if you disable your net connection before playing it should fix the issue...

Worked for me anyway, had constant crashes till I disabled my network adapter prior to playing the game

good point

thats not got nothin to do with it crashin just when the cpu is overclocked tho

I had exactly the same, game crashing after 10 minutes or so, finally narrower it down to the cpu overheating and reaslised I hadn't cleaned it an a while. Removed an impressive amount of dust from the heat sink and then played the game for an hour or so fine.

I think you've answered it yourself, only happens when the cpu is overclocked = unstable overclock.

(and Sleepery you can punctuate my post if you realy want to waste your and my time not my falt im dyslexic)

Correct me if I'm wrong but surely dyslexia is where you are able to spell but the letters get jumbled up in your head. That is quite different from being crap at spelling and grammar...;)

AFAIK a Dyslectic can also not see the typing errors on the screen he typed in

those grafics card can run very hot much so make sure its not that running to hot
His GPU is at stock all the time, the only difference is an overclocked CPU, when overclocked it crashes, when at stock it runs fine = CPU problem, either too hot or too little VCore to run stable.

I'm involved in an RMA saga at the moment over my Palit 8800GT, which crashed from new (new system too) - all due to Assassin's Creed. I never saw BSOD, mine was more red screen...horrible artifacting. Happened in less than a minute or two if it was on high settings. With some additional cooling on my card, and lower settings, it could last half an hour, maybe more.

RMA hasn't been resolved, as they said the card stood up to their 'rigorous' testing with no probs at all... However, they rather stupidly sent me back the same model card, but not the ACTUAL one I had RMA'd. Low and behold it works fine on this card...

Trying to squeeze a GTS or better out of them on the grounds that they sent back someones elses card - one with massive damage to one corner as well!

Bioshock worked fine on the original card though, it was only AC that crashed it...so maybe you have similar probs with heat or instability?

No problems here with Assassins Creed. Spec as per sig. Running at 1920x1200 as well. Fan on GT cranks up during play, confirming the fact it is a console port and is really pushing my PC to its limits. ;) (Or it could be that Rivatuner is working)

Someone also mentioned rubbish controls? Get a 360 controller. Game plays much, much better with it IMO.

Game works fine for me....no issues...Other than a couple of clipping issues that I found, cause Testers sucks these days obviously

Games never crashed...Just palyed it for god knows how many hours on the trot.

Controls...They're fine =/...Nothing wrong with them in my opinion, but as someone said theres no invert option for the mouse apparently..So that could have been implemented.

And if you don't like the controls you can change them  weird.

As per the OP, run the game on stock settings, CPU / RAM / GPU everything, if it doesn't crash, then somethings wrong with your clock, if it still crashes, the issue lies elsewhere.
