dam direct debits

hey all, just looked at one of my bank statements and i discovered that a certain isp have been sucking 17.99 out of my account every month for the last 2 years. As you can imagine im a bit annoyed at myself for being an idiot. My question is can i expect to see any of this money back? i had it for my 1st year at uni and then moved house. So could i argue that because i havent been recieving this service i shouldnt be paying for it ?
 
Why didn't you cancel? I expect they'll tell you to go get stuffed, the people who are living in your old house have had free internet though :p
 
I check my bank statements at least every month ,2 years you must be a very trusting guy ,send me your bank details and I will check it for you each month :D
You could contact them and pretend you canceled it 2 years ago ,demand a refund in utter disgust :eek:
 
I cant beleive you didnt cancel the debit, even if you hadnt cancelled the contract..

When i cancel things i cancel the debit beforehand and ring up and pay outstanding balance(if i feel like it) :)
 
I had phone insurance for my mobile which was £4.99 a month, after a while I bought a new phone and transfered the insurance to the new policy, but they accidently created a new policy rather than ammend my current one, so I had been paying 2 policys for about a years, then I noticed it and i got a full refund.

When phoning your Isp i would say to them that you canceled it and take it from there.
 
but i never did , stupidly, and surely they would have records stating that so surely there would be no point ?

Unless the person you called when you canceled had no idea what they were doing and you're disgusted by their incompetence :p
 
Fasthosts just done this to me, took £20 out of my account without emailing me to tell me they were going to.

I emailed them within minutes asking for a refund and a cancellation but they're not moving so I'm transferring my domains to a new one.
 
People are always complaining that they cancelled and shouldnt have been charged where I work and 9 times out of 10 we have to give in and give them a refund etc - it annoys the hell out of me but you might aswell give it a try.

My housemate arranged for dial up internet three years ago and has been paying for it since! I was never told about it when I sorted out the broadband lol!
