Went for a great drive up by crieff today. I was having a great time and giving the car some beans when this silly Grouse / Pheasant casually walks out onto the road to become road kill.

Grouse + 80mph 205 GTi =

I went back to make sure it was dead, but I'm more concerned about the damage to the bumper and numberplate! Any guestimates to how much a repair would cost?

damn, luckily i drove over a bird with the wheels rather than it hitting my cars, made a depressing thud :(

Was living on Annandale Street until very recently. Beside the roundabout at the top of Leith Walk, also near the bus station or Hi Fi Corner.

Iv corked 2 birds with the windscreen so far at lowish speeds. First one scared the bejasus out of me as it was dark.

pheasants vs 205 front spoiler = spoiler ALWAYS looses

hit a pheasant(must have been the size of a turkey!!) in my car and get no damage at all!!

I once hit a blackbird on the M4, was doing 70 on the inside lane. It just wandered over the line into my car?!

My front splitter did a good job of splitting the bird. :p No damage to the car though!!

Cracked numberplate is just an advisory on the MOT and the spoiler can be made safe with some white duct tape me thinks.
They are only bred for shooting season anyway so you just brought its fate closer then originally intended

Murderer -.- my driving instructor when I was learning told me I should kill any animal rather than swerve out of the way or brake. Some guy hit a pigeon so hard and all it wanted was to pick the bread up and he was just arsed about the bumper, ****.

just took the old rad out of the 200 over the weekend and it had feathers over it still.

that was the pigeon that flew at me at 100mph. pigeon lost!

luckily it some metal in front of the rad, rather than the rad itself. but feather still there from over 2 years ago :)

That's the right thing to do. I've hit hares, sheep, birds, all sorts. No way am I throwing myself off the road in a possibly futile attempt to avoid a bird.

If a bird is dumb enough to walk into a busy road it deserves to die, I'd even run it over on purpose and reverse to make sure, it's a thing known as natural selection.
