i don't get it !
when the card is OCed (overclocked) 530 \ 580 the FPS programs show me more fps numbers and 3DMARK 05 jump with more 1300 points from the STOCK DEFAULT ...B U T the games itselfs when i play and check ISN'NT !SMOOTH ! it's jumping like hell ...and belive me i got the eyes of a GAMER !
i SENSE every little jump in game when it's not runs smooth ....
but when i minimize to return the oc to DEFAULT in ATI TRAY TOOLS to
398 \ 486 (stock ..default)
the fps drop by 15-30 ....BUT !!.....
the games suddenly runs smooth !!
HOW CAN IT BE !???
i just don't get it ..

What v-sync setting do you use in games? And it's entirely possible that those clock speeds are simply making it way too hot, not all GTO²s overclocklock well. Check your temps with ATi Tray Tools hardware monitoring graphs through a bit of gameplay, and let us know what happens.

.....

v-sync ALWAYS ON .....can't stand playing a game without it
and temp not over 63 ....it's ok
and about the oc it's steady ...checked his stability
i tried to make it lower for ex...from 530 to 500 ...and mem from 580 to 550 ...still the same .....
when i return to DEFAULT 498\486 ...SMOOTH

and i check it even when everything is still cold (if i just opened the computer for example)
it's not that
:(

Someone else i've been speaking to had the same issue - card overclocked == game jumpy, card normal == game fine.

I don't think its an individual card issue, as he has a 6800.

If your running with vsync on then it could be you are just tipping over the next level of frame rate, ie if you have it set to 60 but under normal circumstances (ie on stock clocks) you don't hit 60 fps ever it will synch to a mulitple of 60, ie 45, or 30. If by overclocking you are now occasionally going over 60 fps your frame rate will be jumping up and down like a demented frog between 60fps and whatever casing it to be jerky, i tried css with vysnc on and found this to be the case so i run without it, granted you get the occasional tearing but thats nowhere near as annoying as having your fps all over the shop.

noxidjkram@hotm ???
finaly i found some 1 with the same problem as mine..
i even talked with the store where i bought it..they donno what i'm talking about :) donno how can it be . they say i'm imagining...:) mm hmmm...YEA RIGHT (said to them .."well ..when i'll become a schizophrenic GAMER i'll call u back , have a nice weekend")

so your friend ? what did he do to solv it ! ?
i didn't pay 200$ for a 398\450 core card (4300 3dmark) :(

i'm ****** !
and about V-sinc i just can't play off ..can't ! i tried for 10..15..20 min !
just can't .....
about the online offline .. sure i checked offline . to make sure of course it's not net LAGS .

and..RXMAX
u mean that i can't ever play games over 60 fps ?? how can it be ?
so why ppl even pay more for better cards that will give them more FPS and performance?
(or i didn't understnd u ...) sorry my english isn't very well (home languege is hebrew)
btw..
u said : "ie if you have it set to 60 " how do i set V sinc ? u got there only "on" or "off" noap ? or u ment "refresh rates" ? cos i play always on 100

No swearing. Read the FAQs. FF.

He reset the card to normal when playing the game it affected - it didnt affect all games. I seem to remember his issue was with BF2...

I wonder if your GFx is ahead of your rig when OCed? Perhaps the jumpiness comes from it not getting the data fast enough to paint the screen?

Whats your rig specs?

you are partially right, well as i understand vsync anyway, if you have vsync ON your frame rate (fps) will NEVER go above your set refresh rate of the monitor, BUT if your graphics card isn't powerful enough to maintian a level above this refrashrate and therefore maintain your refresh rate as frames per second your frames per second will drop to some division of that, i used 60 as an example with a division of that as 45 or maybe even 30. By overclocking you graphics card you may just be peaking above your refreshrate so it maybe switching between your refresh rate (in frames per second) and a division of it. Hope that makes more sense.

i do that too cos games run smoother
but i was wondering isn't it REALY BAD for the card to go to ATI TRAY TOOL and choose default stock ? it's drops the core from 530 to 400 in a sec !
?
and for RXMAX ......so it happens cos i always play VSINC ON and always on 100 REFRESH RATES ? meaning i need always 100+ fps to make games smoother ? when in OC ? or to drop my screen refresh to always 60 ?

and my rig is :
amd 3200 OC to 3600
dfi infinity
ENERMAX 480

mircrosoft 5$ mouse :)..

Exactly if you run with your monitor set to 100hz refersh rate vsync on will try to maintain 100fps (1 frame per screen refresh) which is great if your graphics card is powerful enough to do it, if not then as i said it will run some devision of it. It does sound like the problem i mentioned, when you oc it peaks above this division of your refresh rate so ups the frames per second for a while then it drops it again..

Try it what you got to lose, maybe try 75hz??

i thought you couldn't tell the difference over 75, also the company you bought it from won't cover you any more.. surly, as you have overclocked it.....
Also mine hasn't got that problem when i overclock mine, but i find it fast enough to run most games

It's true that the human eye can see differences in up to about 72fps optimally, but I have found that going from 85hz (which I usually use) to 75hz gives me migraines and eye-strain. I can't explain it, but it's just an unfortunate fact of life for some of us. :(

he he ...

dude .....if i go from 100 less ! i immediately see the differents !!
so from 85 to 75 ...SURE is see it ...
and yes ! going under 85 will give u migraines and eye-strain....

Sorry?

"enable trilner filtering optimazation"

Isn't an option i am familiar with, i know what trilinear filtering is and where you usually switch it on but i have never heard of it put like that. Where is that from?

Are you any nearer solving your problem? Switching trilinear filtering off may well help in you situation but only by increasing the frame rate slightly at the cost of poorer graphics.

no

""Are you any nearer solving your problem? "'
no dude i donno what happened .....all of a sudden i get only 50 FPS in BF2 (same maps i checke as i always do)
i always had 70 - 95 ......
i think my card is dying !!!
:(
i didn't change anything except swap file from 1.5 to 2G and refresh from 100 to 80
but i got all to where it was so ......
i don't get it ...
