im not one to rant, but youd have thought after 12 years, they wouldnt come up with something so cheesy and cheap, the opening was actually cringeworthy imo, bit crappy, i did expect more, and even the textures are a bit lame. does anyone actually like this game ?

Why did you feel the need to create a new thread instead of just posting your opinion in the existing 'official' thread? Did you just want the attention?

thats a bit rude, i didnt see a thread, i ran the game for the first time, didnt like it, posted about it in one of my fav forums, was that really needed ? no i didnt do it for attention.

I loved DN3D, still do. But DNF is just crap. It's nothing like Duke Nukem at all. Too much cover-based shooting. Ego bar instead of 1-200% health and armour. And only able to carry two weapons at once.

And that's before I start on the mundane level design.

I paid £20 for my copy and I feel ripped off. If i'd have paid £30 I think it would have been time to send myself to the gallows.

so would u guys feel better if developers just replicated their legacy games with better graphics and some other and stuff?

In this case, yes. If you want to muck around with limited weapons, heavy emphasis on cover and regenerating health you can always buy one of the several thousand other samey shooters on the shelves.

DNF was supposed to be brilliant because it was supposed to be more like Serious Sam than Bulletstorm.

You don't see Valve or iD caving in and putting this crap in their games? Yet they still manage to scoop reviews well into the 90% range.

Don't mind Evilsod, he's just trying to make himself feel better. That's normal for him. Please do stop putting spaces before question marks though. :D

I think it says it all when you look at the development cycle of the game. 3DRealms tried to make a game that would be the best game at the time of it's release. That's what had basically happened with DN3D, and in that vain search for perfection they kept re-hashing the game through multiple engines and sending it back to the drawing board several times.

"Jack of all trades, master of none" springs to mind. And also, in trying to be the best at everything, it's picked up some bad habits. Being the "best cover based shooter" is like coming first in a retard competition.

Don't you want change instead of just a texture mod?

I've not played DNF as I'm not particularly interested in DN stuff, but I don't believe people are upset about the fact that it's change, but rather they changed the aspects of it that made it Duke Nukem.

I think progression is a better word though, as you can progress without "change" as such.

I would personally like this to happen to lots of games, i mean just updated graphics. It would have to be marketed as such though, when you say "replicate" their legacy games i get the impression you mean realeasing a full game which is basically the same base gameplay but with better graphics. This of course would not be great as a proper release, but i would like to see more games re-released by devs with improved graphics and better support.

Then again, some games have great modding communities who do a great job of improving the games anyway, look at Morrowind or Deus Ex(though i would love an updated release of that!)

id love this, an overhaul of the graphics of the games of yesterday, but with the limits of yesterdays hardware constraints removed, like how there could only be so much population back then in games, now today we can have 100's of people on screen. id love a game like then with dx 11 now, if it was for those games these developers wouldnt be here anymore, so they should take note.
