damn! how poor is the new duke nukem game

Don't you want change instead of just a texture mod?

Serious question. Were you born when the DN3D came out?

I didn't think it was as bad as a lot of people seem to be on about. The start/demo was horrendous, but I thought it got a little better toward the middle. It was enjoyable, but as average as it could have been, nothing special to make up for all the hype.

I'd much rather play one of the Serious Sam titles these days. Looking forward to SS3 lots. :)

It's like if they made an FFVII remake but removed the Materia system and replaced it with something else, or changed the battle system.

It would look great, and it might be based in the same world, but it wouldn't be FFVII.

Same thing here.

I think its hype definitely played a large part in its poor reception, I don't think there's been another game that's been hyped up so much. Hard to avoid really when it's been "cooming soon" for about 15 years.

There's a difference between a remake and a new game though.

Crisis core didn't have the material system or even similar combat, but added to the same story and was a great game.

Remakes should be just as they are but redone graphically, I want progress and change with a new title though.

DNF didn't have a lot of progress as such though. :(

I don't doubt it. In my opinion a lot of "professional" reviews only gave it ridiculously low scores in order to drum up extra visits + advertising revenue, something they wouldn't have got just giving it the average review it was actually deserving of.

Whats materia never play ffIV seems boring to me.

Ok, so I see some of you are with change and progress and some of you aren't. In my opinion I like a sequel where none of the cool stuff from the prequel is gone and the level design is improved upon and not dumbed down. I also liek new features if they were missing from the last game.

Just my 2c

.... 4? You mean 7? One of the least boring games ever made.

It was here before you. Show some respect to your elders. :o Kids these days.

FF7 was/is one of my favourite games, ever.

But that doesn't mean the materia system was all that great. In fact FF8 and FF9 did it better. FF8 with the complex junction system (personally loved it), and FF9 which was a better version of the materia system.

Currently on Games website for about £12. Bought, no other games coming out that I want until Space Marine in september. For £12 this game is worth it imo. It's meant to be cheap and whatnot. Plus it plays like an old 90's fps game. The demo reminded me slightly of Prey (last 90's feeling fps game that I played) in the way it handled. The two weapon system does suck though and the game is not worth £30-£40.

The game was a shadow of what Duke3D was all about. That being said, it wasn't terrible and I enjoyed it enough to play through to the end. It's probably a 5 or 6 out of 10 game.
