Just wondering if there are any PS3 knowledgeable people in the forum (hopefully)

Just had my PS3 die but not a YLOD as to speak. Problem is the standby light has vanished (was there yesterday) and PS3 seems dead but it still turns on to a green light - then three beeps and finally instant off (no blinking red lights after the green yesterday when the red light was working)
I am hoping its just a power supply issue and a simple fix :(

Your PS3 is naked! :o

Sorry, I don't have any idea how to fix the problem. Try baking it, that's what everyone else does. I guess you could try it without the hard drive connected, doubt it will make much difference though. Could be the power supply like you said. :)

No hdd plugged in - people usually bake the ps3 when they get a overheating problem. If a new psu doesn't fix it then it's cookin time

Looksl ike it was not the powesr supply at fault (managed to check the power with a multimete and all voltages are good)

So looks like it must be the motherboard at fault :(

When looking at the motherboard and wondering why the red light does not appear when in standby i found what i presume is the reason (think the red diode is missing)

I know next to nothing about electronics or diodes etc but i presume the voltages passing through the diode has to go on to somewhere by the looks of the plans

Could this be causing the power off (possibly ylod with a broken light lol)

Any help would be appreciated however small :)
