This is not the sort of thing I like to wake up to on a Monday morning.

I don't think I've done anything to offend the local rifraff and can only assume I was a target of opportunity. I reckon someone lept off of the brick wall onto the windscreen. It just a shame the saftey glass held and didn't slash their legs to ribborns

The thing that really grates is this is the 2nd time the car has been damaged in my driveway in less than 6 months. I'd invest in CCTV but there is no where to mount a camera. For the time being I'm leaving the car on the road... at least I'll save myself another £50 excess in the near future.

I wish to sound like I am having a go but if this sort of thing has happened to you before how come you havn't garaged the car?! (assuming the garage it is parked in front of is your garage).

But still people shouldn't do this sort of thing. Hope you get it sorted mate.

Living in that sort of area, what do you expect.
 Do you mean West London or the private tenant building behind my house?

How much would it cost to get that fixed?
£50 excess through my insurance (it doesn't effect my NCB)

I'd use the garage but it's full of my furniture, in anticipation of my move to New Zealand next year. The rest of the cars on the street seem fine and I'm not an aggressive driver (not since this incident ) so I don't think I upset anyone. I can only assume I was a target of opportunity.

whereabouts in W London? Some parts of it are really nice, but it is going downhill tbh. unlucky with that though, can't you just buy new furniture when you move to NZ though??

I'm in Acton. Criminal activety isn't much of an epidemic in my immediate area - we're about on par with Ealing (a lot less gun crime though).

Unfortunatly, the furniture is sentimental stuff - inhereted from my wife's grandparents. Previous suggestions of replacing it have resulted in lonely nights on the couch... :(

Could you not stick the furniture in one of those storage (shipping) container places (I know there are a few around where I live but I am unsure whether its a country wide thing).

Then you could garage the car.

White Goods + Most Electricals are more expensive

If you are going to ship anything over a 20ft container costs ~£800 and a 10FT costs ~£900 (03 prices and yes 10ft costs more than 20ft!) so if your going to send anything over then take the bigger container and fill it up!

LOL! Where abouts you moving to North or South?

I'm saving my pennies for NZ. Storage costs would set me back at least a couple of months worth of wages. I mean to say I'm tight :p I mean, look at what I drive!

I'm too not bothered with leaving the car on the road just as long as it gets left alone.

In Acton meself, there's a few places that are getting worse (Bollo lane etc is pretty bad anyway) Didn't really think Ealing has much in the way of gun crime though. However, there are quite a few drunks about on the weekend that might do this "for a laugh"

Thanks for that - I've yet to start looking into the logistics but I was definatly going to get a container. If I get a 20ft - do ya reckon I should try and squeeze the car on board too? ;)

Christchurch - I was born and bred in the Garden City.

Seeing the escort isnt on the LTSA website you would have to pay to get it tested and so pay more than the car is worth to get the cert. So no..

Plus their used car prices has just gone titsup as there was/is oversupply!

Ofcourse the expense of the goods depends on the currency fluctuations

Have you thought if your going to pack the container yourself or get someone else to do it (twice the price if not more now!!)
