Ok a tiny bit of an over reaction lol but has any one noticed the quality of EA games taking a nose dive over the last few years?:(.. in the last year i have bought *clears throat*
Sims 3 (jerky on high end pc, Ive tryed it on three high ends pcs with all the same results. unfinished. )
Sims 2: pets stories: (my own fault for not reading up on it but the campaign mode is very short)
Command and conquer 4 tiberium twilight (works but is awful gameplay. feels like they threw it togeather in a hurry. Look at sites like play.com and amazon. every person who bought it says the same thing)
Godfather 2: Jerky and laggy movement. While installing my computer crashed. took me 4 attemps! Never had that trouble before or since :/
Deadspace (jerky and laggy. They suggest lowering the resolution + removing vsync+ messing around with drivers/files which aint eays and STILL you get lag. )
Spores (Was made for children but advertised/presented as a teen/adult game. REALLY easy to the point where u want to cry)
fifa 9-10 for PC both were shoddy & obvious console ports

Any one else feel the same? A few years back when ever you bought a EA game you KNEW you were buying quality. Lately the games feel rushed.
They are getting as bad as SEGA!

Hmmm - my opinion of EA went downhill when they started spitting out carbon copies of Fifa and NFS. It was obvious back then that they were now run by execs and bean counters.

However, the most notorious publisher for rushing unfinished tripe is Atari. The last two Driver games, The Matrix games and Boiling Point all were obviously released without any play testing. Glad I haven't seen anything from them on PC in a while.

The last EA game I bought was Sims 3 (for the Missus oh course). Haven't had any issues with that on my mid-spec machine though...

Deadspace jerky and laggy??

I ran it on average/high settings on an AMD 64 x2 4400+, 2gb ram and a 7800gtx and it ran fine.

It was a great game to play as well!

To be fair, you can't really class The Sims and Spore as games :p Utter pieces of **** imho!

Yeah I see what the OP means, what's worse is that they steer away from games that can't be re-released again and again (i.e. Fifa 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7...).

As much as I disagree with that, they still have output some pretty amazing games (i.e. Battlefield, Crysis, Dead Space, Mirrors Edge, Medal Of Honor, etc).

I have to take my hat off to Deadspace, what a truly phenomenal game. It didn't jerk or lag for me and that was using an ATI in Vista (good riddance to that pile of junk OS)! Granted, I had built my rig just weeks before it was released.

Most of them weren't developed by EA, EA's just been the publisher.

It's not an online game, so that's no lag by default.

PEBKAC :D

Hurrrr you has so smart derp derp

Lag refers to a delay in communications/commands, not exclusively that between client and server. High setting games often produce a scenario where there is lag on mouse movement, lag on button clicking and other general control of the character or game.

Dead space was awesome. No lag or anything bad to report. It just installed and ran fine. I'd suggest if you are having problems with a lot of these games you need to ensure your PC is working fine first. I ran it first in Vista and then in Windows 7 and had no problems.

Last EA produced game I really enjoyed was Need for Speed Most Wanted. Since that a lot of their own produced stuff has been terrible.

I stopped at that to be honest. Nobody who buys the Sims 2 - Pets Stories and expects a lengthy "campaign" is ever allowed to rant. Even when it's justified :).

- Spore was very well optimised and with low requirements.

- Deadspace was pretty optimised.

- Sims 3 is jerky when scrolling across the neighbourhood, but this just seems to be the approach they take to rendering the image rather than poor coding. Just turn the settings down a little ;)

- There are other games you dont mention - Mirrors Edge ran amazingly well, especially when you consider how great it looked!

Edit: Forgot Need for Speed Undercover - that ran like crap :)

I used to do a lot of play/beta testing on Atari games. It's not like they didn't do it, it's that they didn't listen to us or just didn't bother fixing the problems. I once had a beta that I couldn't install because the disc they sent me was missing a file. I reported this and contacted them, the only response I got was "Duplicate Bug"... well thanks, wouldn't mind being able to do some more testing on this game :|

So often they went gold and released the games with bugs that were reported in the first build still present, some of the worst bug fixing I've ever seen.

Only played Dead Space out of that list, and it ran really nice for me with no jerking and smooth frame rates.

mind you nfs shift is still a game that they not finished or fixed the stuuter issue in some circiut.

Sort of glad someone else is having the same issues, I've tried lots to sort this and in the end thought it might be my PC. I get it the most on the Japanese tracks.
